Volunteer travel - what's it all about?
Are you looking for an adventurous trip with a purpose, or on a gap year or career break? If you want to make a difference in some of the world’s most important conservation areas - and in community projects - then volunteer trips are for you! Volunteers tend to have a sense of adventure, and come from a range of different backgrounds and from all over the world.
Edward Abbey said 'sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul'.

How this holiday makes a difference

The programme in Jaipur consists of eight different project areas it assists a wide variety of people and causes. Orphans, disadvantaged and disabled children, young girls, women and children suffering from AIDS, etc. Since there are so many projects that need help, volunteers are always placed where they're most needed and where they're particularly suited.

Across their operations the project Organisation employ over 100 local people, both at the head office in Jaipur, but also in their volunteer camps in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Goa. Female volunteers are encouraged to buy local clothes from the market before they begin their placements. Volunteers often use public transport to get to their project every day as well.

Volunteers are educated on general cultural dos and don’ts throughout their induction and orientation. They're also taught about project specific issues such as the dowry, which is now illegal in India. The Project Organisers work with a range of projects, some of which they've sent up themselves, and others, which are pre-existing charities that they help to support.

Due to the work of the projects there has been a noticeable increase in school attendance, and in the numbers of children going on to higher education.
