How Peloponnese family activity holiday in Greece makes a difference

Environment

All the activities included in this trip are environmentally friendly. We prefer using the power of the wind and the power of the water rather the power of gas and that’s why we don’t offer activities like jeeps or jet-skis.

We are also owners of the small city hotel that you will stay during your holidays here where we recycle paper, glass, plastic and metal. At your arrival here you will be given a Travellers Code of Conduct, where you will get informed about how to apply maximum responsibility during your holidays concerning environmental and socio cultural factors.

As we are aware of the fact that your trip here will cause carbon emissions, we offer 1% of the price to the environment for offsetting them! This money is going to be used, in cooperation with the local Forestry Office, the Greek Trekking Club of Tripolis and the Tripolis Ecologist Club, for afforestation in our mountains, that have been hit by great fires in the summer of 2007. We hope that our effort will push other companies, individuals or local authorities to contribute to this project too.

Community

Choosing our holidays, you choose responsible holidays. As Mr Panagiotopoulos, founder and president of our company, was born and raised here, one of his biggest concerns is to secure that tourism will not affect negatively our area in ecological and socio cultural ways, and that the locals will benefit most from your travel. Our company - which is the organizer and operator of this package - is local-based and all our guides, drivers, activity specialists and employees are locals too, ensuring not only the economical benefit of our area but also your cultural benefit. On this trip, you will visit so many different places and you will always be surrounded by locals, experiencing the Greek way of living.

But what is most important for us, is that your presence here gives us a strong negotiation card for forcing the local authorities for the development of our area, such us constructing cycling streets in our city or finance and organize better our archaeological museums and sites.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Swimming and snorkeling in a secluded cove with crystal clear water during our sailing trip. The sailing was fantastic too! That day was pure magic.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

This is a wonderful trip. Just enjoy every moment you can!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, we met lots of local people along the way, and we ate local food and shopped at local shops. Also 1% of the total purchase price goes towards a reforestation project aiming to regrow the trees lost in the 2007 bushfires.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Absolutely wonderful. Every day was different, but wonderful. We really enjoyed the scenery, the food, the people and the activities.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Amazing holiday. Perfect for active people. I was there with my two sons of 11 and 18 y-o. We enjoyed all the different activities and visits. We really like the rafting, not only ti was great sensations but the gorges and nature surrounding
where so beautiful. Live in Greece appears very simple and no stress. We had a nice balance between the sport activities and the cultural activities. The various archeological sites were beautiful. Greece has a really rich past history which is
nice to discover. Lodging was very nice in a recently built hotel-apartment, with lots of space which is unexpected in Europe. All the personal were very conscientious, smiling and helpful.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Be prepared for fun and nice sport activities. The agency gave us a list of clothes and item that are useful for this trip which was very helpful. Lunches during activities were simple and delicious, made by "maman".

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Really. No big company. Simple and friendly with all the different activities.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Fantastic holiday. Will certainly go there again. We spend the following week in Creta and enjoyed beaches and diving. Will have to there again to see other Greek wonders, including vineyard and olives trees.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

It's hard to pick one part, since there were so many different highlights. The kids loved the white-water rafting, and wanted to do it again at the end. On the sailing day, the skipper and his daughter were very friendly, lunch in a secluded bay was excellent, and everyone had the opportunity to learn some basics and assist. The horse-riding day with the barbecue was very special and relaxing, while the trekking and cycling days incorporated visits to archaeological sites. On the way to the airport to go home, a guided tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis museum was included - not a moment was wasted.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Familiarise yourself with the Greek alphabet, learn some basic phrases, and particularly try to learn some restaurant menu items. You generally won't find English or Russian menus on this holiday!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Definitely. We stayed in an excellent local hotel (The Palatino in Tripolis), in the evenings we ate in local restaurants where the menu was only in Greek, and the activities were all run by locals. A small percentage of the cost of the holiday is used for tree-planting, and travellers can also donate towards this activity if they wish.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent. The whole holiday was very well organized, the staff were very attentive and friendly, the level of the activities was perfectly balanced for the family, and we were happily occupied from beginning to end. The holiday was over much too quickly!
