How Thailand childcare volunteering holiday makes a difference
Environment
Volunteers live and work alongside the locals on this project; they take public transport (or walk) to and from the project each day and use simple, local accommodation so that their impact on the environment is as small as possible. Local food will be used for your breakfast and dinner.
We have a long-standing relationship with our team in Tanzania who know and understand their country. By working with the experts in their own environment we are able to be confident that the work our volunteers contribute to is worthwhile and genuinely needed. For some of the projects you will be able to improve upon the environment in which the Tanzanians are taught in by renovating and constructing new schools.
Whilst living on this project volunteers stay in basic conditions and in harmony with the environment and local traditions. Waste is kept to a minimum and resources are used sparingly to ensure volunteer presence doesn’t affect the environment negatively.
Community
* Volunteers on this project are working with and helping the local community through a range on local initiatives. These include helping out in nurseries and local schools, sports coaching, adult English classes, Women Groups, building projects and HIV/AIDS awareness projects. There are also more specific activities the community is supported by as training in magazine production. All activities are run by the local community who benefit from the extra help provided from volunteers. All volunteers are police checked before taking part on this project.
* Support team members in Tanzania are locally employed; with accommodation locally run and public transport used so we are confident that the money spent in country goes straight into the local economy where it is most needed.
* All volunteers sign a code of conduct which sets out the relationship of cultural understanding and respect with the community they live in. Our volunteers become part of the community, not tourists looking in.
