How South America honeymoon makes a difference

Environment

We only work with licensed ground operators who work with local guides, natural reserves and archaeological sites in the highlands and Amazon regions of Latin America.

Most natural reserves will ask that each visitor pays directly, when entering the reserve, the admission fee, which will contribute in maintaining the reserve, buildng new roads and hire local staff who will look after the site and wildlife. Also, if a trip includes visits to pre-colonial sites, the fees paid to each archaeological site or museum go directly to each project.

As a small tour operator we encourage our customers to follow the guidelines of our travellers code of conduct, where we emphasise waste management and local consumption at destination.

Our ground operators are aware of our interest in making sure water usage and waste management are of high standards. We encourage clients to give us feedback at their return or if they want when at destination, if our ground operators are not compliant with responsible practices.

We aim to utilise fewer printed marketing and communication materials, encouraging customers to order the online version of the catalogue and ensure every experience we offer has enough online information.

Community

Our community based experiences directly benefit the communities and are generally run by the communities itself who work in partnership with local operators.

When you decide to travel with us you will be contributing to the local communities directly. However, although most of our destinations need to be reached by air travel, you can decide to offset your carbon footprints.

Among a crumbling colonial legacy, Bolivia is striving to secure a more prosperous future while holding on the clothing, music, religions and even languages that are firmly rooted in the majority of its people whose ancestors pre-date the Spanish conquistadors. The high-altitude capital, La Paz, is an extraordinary place of bustle and colour providing a fascinating gateway to the country. Street vendors ply their trade at every corner and most women still wear traditional dress and ubiquitous bowler hats.

We will put you in touch with local cultures and so you are able to learn more about the area’s history, its current way of living and how traditions are maintained. We ask you to respect the archaeological sites, natural reserves and the communities you will visit by trying to avoid wasting water, throwing litter or damaging the environment.

80% of our experiences include tours to local communities and the aim of each is to show the way of living of these communities or local projects.

Our activity-based experiences, fitness and wellness vacations have a tailor made approach where we suggest and offer activities that will enable our customers to travel to communities and rural areas where there will be more opportunities to learn about its needs and visit with local people. We aim to organise tailor made responsible tourism experiences in Bolivia using our extensive local contacts and knowledge. We work directly with local operators, who have an emphasis of using of locally produced ingredients in cooking meals.

The story of the provider of South America honeymoon

Having grown up in Bolivia, I fell ill at 19 with what was eventually diagnosed as adult atopic eczema after returning from a study year abroad. I soon realised that there were two main factors affecting my condition: stress and lack of exercise. Each year, I returned to Bolivia for Christmas and it was this time away from my hectic day-to-day routine that helped me minimise my symptoms as I was calmer and more relaxed. This, coupled with all the exercise I had taken in exploring my native country with my English husband, ensured I returned feeling like a new woman. After many years working in marketing for business publishers, I took some time to assess my priorities in life and I decided to open a company that combined travel, health and fitness in order to help people such as myself, or anyone who would be willing to embark on a life changing experience as I had.
