With our mission being: “To use Responsible Tourism as a Sustainable Development tool for the people in Southern Africa; benefiting local communities and visitors, through sharing and mutual understanding, empowerment and sustainable partnerships.” are we strongly committed to the destination benefitting from tourism. We work according to a strong standing responsible tourism policy which is available to travellers and other interested parties. As a company do we commit to recycling, water- & power saving, have an company eco-policy available to all the staff. We are BEE certified, have a MoU with Fairtrade in Tourism South Africa and are Carbon neutral Certified. Our commitment to responsible tourism comes from the inside out and we are proud to be working according to an extensive responsible tourism policy.
Upon arrival will our travellers receive informative documentation on how to travel responsible at the destination. Examples of information include in the welcome package are information on the Code of Conduct against Child Sex Tourism, Food & Trees for Africa – how to neutralise your carbon offset and SAASI that provides information on which fish to eat in which season.
We work with local suppliers who are all aware of our commitment to responsible tourism. 10% of our profit supports our, South Africa registered, non profit organisation through which we support and initiate projects. Included in the fees you pay for this hands-on experience is a donation towards the project which will help the project in their daily operations.
By being hands-on involved at this crèche / project will you not only see and experience the difference you can make but also get to meet the local South African community and leave as friends. Due to the fact that there are never more than 4 volunteers at the time do you have the opportunity to really form part of the local community and get to know everybody on a personal level. A smaller group size also decreases the negative impact on the environment as well as the children attending the crèche. Too many people would disturb the daily operations.
The volunteering package includes a donation towards the project as well. Support local South Africa in their development; share knowledge and make a difference in a personal way.
Lower carbon travel:
We provide bicycles to use during the project stay. Besides this do we inform our travellers about the option of offsetting their carbon offset via the Food & Trees for Africa programme. We work according to a responsible tourism policy and inform our travellers about the different responsible option they have in South Africa.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
