How Trentino cultural holiday, Italy makes a difference
Environment
Responsible mission
As local mountain travellers we relish and celebrate the diversity of the world. We also recognise our obligation to protect the environments that we explore. Our aim is to tread lightly, whilst contributing to maintain the world’s culture and nature, and most importantly to engage the help of all our customers to utilise the potential of tourism as a tool to aid sustainable development. We believe that responsible travellers are welcome in the places that they visit.
Helping to minimise negative impact:
All accommodations are small scale and family-run and this makes the real difference, since it means everything is in a small scale and is therefore much better controlled, from wastes to energy, until economic cooperation among tourism operators. Farmstays and agritourism are place to get to know the real Italian hospitality and cuisine, to meet new people, and to live not as a tourist, but as a friend. Farmstays and agritourism accommodation in Trentino, respect the local law on waste management and pollution reduction, which represents the highest standard in the Italian context. Owners separate glass, plastic, paper, cartoons, tins, and compost all food and garden waste and also collect rain water and use it in the gardens. Use of printed brochures has been reduced, as most of the promotion is done by the Internet and email marketing.
Some accommodations produce energy with solar panels and all of them are linked to the local production of hydroelectric energy, which makes the valley almost independent under this point of view. Many farmstays are old building restored according to the newest technology on sustainable construction, in the traditional style and using local materials. In most cases restoration has been done by local companies.
Community
On this trip:
We use local guides for all our activities and local services for transportation. We support and cooperate with the local Ecomuseum, which promote local culture and help to preserve local heritage. Ecomuseum organizes most of guided tours to know historic sites and environmental highlights. We buy food and beverage from local producers, especially from local farmers and wine makers, in this way our travelers are contributing to the local economy. We stimulate the partnership and cooperation among tourism operators, to organize events and help guests to meet the different sides of the valley. By offering experiences such as learning how to cook bread using old traditional methods, meeting a blacksmith and tours to historic castles and fortresses, this trip is promoting local cultural heritage and helping to keep local traditions alive within the community.
All hotel partners are local private accommodation providers, there is not any hotel owned or managed by foreign companies. Overnight in private accommodation enhances the visitors’ experience, since they get an opportunity to be welcomed by a local host and thus get better insight in everyday life of local people in Trentino.
The variety of activities on this trip are all operated by local companies so the money spent by our guests directly benefits the local economy and provides vital employment. All activities are devised to cause minimum environmental impact on the region being explored. All our staff are employed locally, and we support the local businesses by buying local produce from the nearby farms for the guests and our meals.
Partnerships:
As a company we support the local Ecomuseum and Adamello Brenta Natural Park and both organizations are committed to promote responsible travel practices throughout the whole region.
Adamello Brenta Natural Park recently joined the European Chart for Sustainable Tourism and was recognised as a best practice in sustainable management of protected areas. We partner with many small grassroots projects throughout the destinations that we visit - they all share our responsible vision.
