Teach English in Thailand
How Teach English in Thailand makes a difference
Environment
The transportation used is mainly local transport such as the tuk tuk. Volunteers will be transported from their accommodation by tuk tuk if they are living at the accommodation further away from the monastery or they can travel by foot if they are living near the monastery.
In Thailand, there is also transportation such as trishaws which are available for volunteers to use to move around near by areas. With trishaws, no fuel is used to move the vehicle, they use man power - cycling. They also provide rented taxis and motorcycles.
The food provided to the volunteers is all locally sourced materials as Thailand is also a land of agriculture. So the food was not transported from a long distance, reducing the carbon emission/ foot print while transporting the food.
Buildings are also built using locally sourced materials and using local expertise to build other parts of the monastery, even though maintaining the monastery building is not part of the project for the volunteers.
Community
It is important that volunteers come with an open mind and a willingness to be flexible, to join in, be creative and most of all to enjoy themselves. The volunteers are helping the young children improve their English and by doing so they are helping improve the potential future of these children. English is needed for many industries including tourism where English is the industry language.
With this in mind it is important for volunteers to be in control of their experience and teach the children what they known as this will benefit the community the most. Our partner will 'guide' rather than 'control' your volunteering experience, but we promise to do everything in our power to make your trip relaxing, memorable, rewarding and most of all, FUN!
This project will also expose volunteers to the local Thai culture which brings benefit tot he community as the volunteers will be bale to share about their experience and the Thai culture when they have returned home.
