Scotland wildlife and marine conservation holiday

Seeing the Dolphins (after days of fruitless searching) has to be a biggie...But being at Newbold House was for me probably the best bit of all - superb food, wonderful company and a remarkable place. (more)Alison Nichol-Smith

Memorable parts? Very pleasant time on Sidmouth and Lyme Regis seafronts (easily accessible from the farmhouse) Tips? Buy all provisions at Greendale farm shop (a short drive away, open until 8pm), which has a superb fish counter. A very enjoyable holiday particularly for the children who have not stopped talking about it yet... Taking part in the bushcraft activity and watching our grandchildren as they tried wild foods and made fire. Scotland, dolphin and wildlife watching trips

Memorable parts? Seeing dolphins in the wild 50 meters in front of you. Even if it was raining and very windy! Tips? Pack a rain coat just in case you get the weather I had. Take a camera, but don't expect a guaranteed perfect dolphin photo, they move very fast in the water and it is hard to focus. Local benefits? Memorable parts? The amazing scenery both in sunshine and rain. And our hosts, Colette and Michael. Tips? Do as Michael and Colette suggest - pack light and bring wet weather gear ie rain jackets and boots. Local benefits? Yes. Overall rating? Absolutely fantastic for ALL ages, young and old. Memorable parts? The house we stayed in was a lovely place to be based from and come back to of an evening. The most memorable day was our day off. We were asked what we would like to do and everyone asked to go cycling for the day! We went off and did two amazing downhill runs which combined some uphill climbs that I would never have thought I could have been able to do. Memorable parts? The hospitality shown by the hosts Rebecca and Andy, who welcome you warmly into their home. The meals were fabulous and the packed lunches the best yet. Tips? Wild food cookery weekend in Scotland

Memorable parts? The most memorable and exciting part of the holiday was drinking nettle beer as the sun went down on the Saturday night. We'd had a busy day digging, foraging and cooking, so seeing it all come together at the end of the day with a crackling fire and that beautiful view of the valley below was truly memorable. The view from each window spectacular and so close to the loch that it was almost like being on a boat at times! Views changed with the stillness of the water or with the time of day and weather.
