On leaving our room at Serendip which led out straight onto the front veranda... we saw that the garden was full of fireflies. We were then led to our table out the back by the plunge pool where we would be eating dinner. The manager had arranged and lit dozens of tea lights around the garden. Priceless. (more)Robert Back

On the second day, Amir our instructor showed us a fantastic blue lit cave that could only be reached by jumping out of the kayaks and swimming through a small entrance – lots of fun. The holiday was fantastic...It is hard to choose our favourite moment. Between the two of us, it is jumping off the Kayaks for a gorgeous swim in the really warm lake Skadar. There are moments, even in the middle of the day, when the lake is a giant mirror, because there are no boats or traffic. I enjoyed so many things about my holiday, I had a truly fantastic time but if I had to choose I would say the hill-tribe trek, that was a great experience for many reasons, I especially loved seeing the tribes & the breath-taking landscape it was unbelievable I thought, a special experience. The first village stay on the hill tribe trek - we were the first group to stay in this village, and the kids were so excited to see us that I think we became a free babysitting service to the whole village for the entire night! Memorable parts? The stunning scenery, wild wildlife (we swam with baby sharks), mouthwatering food and the friendliness of the Malaysian people. The Perhentian Islands are breathtakingly lovely and so relaxing; the homestay was absolutely charming and we ate like royalty. Tips? Try everything! We travelled a great distance, saw tons of great scenery and was able to do a variety of activities so I can't really say that one thing stands out however Dawson City (both times) was great. Tips? Bring a bug hat/jacket and some good bug spray. Bring a variety of warm clothes (e.g. mitts, wool hat...) even in the summer months - you never know what the temperature will be like.
