We had the most fabulous weather. The first place we stayed, Quinta dos Valedos, was a really great start to the holiday, as Marie-Jose and Sergei are French Portuguese, and introduced us to many culinary specialities of the region, including carob and arbutus berry schnapps! Very relaxing holiday, felt at home and relaxed the whole time, as villas enclosed in a walled area felt children could wander around as they liked without worry, the owners of the villas were lovely and felt more like family when we left, although never intrusive. (more)Patricia Raistrick

Algarve self guided cycling holiday
This was a moderately strenuous cycling trip for a family of 4, and we had great fun finding great places to eat, in the off-season around New Year's...Excellent choices of towns to visit, routes, and accommodations. (more)Bunli Yang
The nice country of Portugal and the kindness of the people were the most memorable parts. (more)Louise Duipmans

The coast of the Western Algarve is absolutely beautiful and the self guided walks we had meant that we got the chance to see alot of it - the beach at Odeceixe has to be one of the most beautiful we've ever seen, and the whole of the Parque Nacional is really worth a visit. (more)Pam Barmby

Top notch...Cycling through orange groves in the sunshine and stopping to feast on big juicy oranges was the most memorable part.... Fantastic scents from the forests of warm eucalyptus will always remind us of Portugal. (more)Liz Martin

Self guided cycling holiday in the Algarve, mountains to sea
Memorable parts? The initial transfer from Faro Airport to Monchique was efficient as was the final transfer from Salema back to Faro Airport. The Bica Boa Inn at Monchique was the most pleasant of the pre-arranged accommodation. Being chased, while cycling on the recommended back paths between Monchique and Alferce, by sizeable aggressive dogs was of concern. Tips? Bring a sat-nav device. Local benefits? Not particularly, apart from the fact that cycling is obviously a green... (more)David Wood

Algarve romantic B&B in Portugal
Hammocks and sun loungers are placed around the garden where guests can while away the hours relaxing, reading or even sketching and painting. There is also a small swimming pool and jacuzzi which are very welcome and soothe aching limbs after long walks in the forested hills. (more)Daphne Donkin
The overall atmosphere of the place and the beautiful landscapes...We had a fantastic time and we look forward to go back. (more)Alessandra Martina
From €55 - €75 per accommodation per night (sleeps 2)

Algarve holidays in Portugal

With its year round sunshine, long, sandy beaches and picturesque rocky coves, the southern coast of the Algarve is the most visited region in the country. In the west, you will find postcard images of the province – a series of tiny bays and broken coves. In the east lies the less developed sandy offshore islets which front the coastline for some 25 miles. There are a wonderful range of Algarve holidays including cycling, walking, surfing Algarve holidays as well as a huge number of Algarve accommodation options including self catering cottages, farmhouses and Algarve apartments.
