Memorable parts? All of it! The extremes of weather, the diversity of animals, the quality of the accommodation and facilities, and something you can't plan for - new found friends! Tips? Don't set your heart on seeing anything specific. Be prepared for the changes in weather. It's not as challenging as I expected - to take account of the huge spectrum of ages and abilities. But most of all HAVE FUN! Local benefits? Not so much the local people, though we did buy a lot... (more)Lisa Thomas

It was brilliant, one of the best things I have done during my many years of overseas travel, and the weather was really kind to us. (more)Susan Lett
We had so many memorable moments. A Blue Whale and her calf cut across our bow when we were sailing, it was so exciting. Hoisting the sails was an exciting moment and everyone was keen to join in. (more)Gayna Wallis
Best bit: Watching blue whales feeding while manning the helm of the yacht. (more)Ian McGuire

This trip will forever stay in my heart. Incredible. I would go again tomorrow if I got the chance. (more)Helen Connolly
Fantastic - it's more than a holiday and is so different to anything else I have ever done. South Georgia is an amazing place. The beaches were packed with tens of thousands of penguins and they weren't afraid to come right up to us. The scenery in Antarctica is beautiful. (more)rebecca allcock
Every part of the holiday was memorable including animals, birds, scenery, the ship (Polar Pioneer), fellow travellers and expedition team. (more)Christine Brignoni
Arctic icebreaker cruise, Spitsbergen

An amazing trip! The scenery -glaciers, icebergs and sea ice - were stunning, the northern lights fantastic, and the wildlife wonderful. It is impossible to highlight one part, as it was two memorable weeks! (more)Kathryn Huddle
Seeing polar bears, walruses and whales. Especially seeing a rare Bowhead whale whilst moving through the pack ice. (more)Peter Smart

Memorable parts? The close sighting of a pod of Orca attacking a Humpbacked Whale and penguins. Bird watching from the ship. Visiting the mainland at Neko Harbour. The ideal size of the ship and friendliness of the other passengers and crew. Tips? Don't bother taking your own warm boots. Those provided were perfectly adequate with our own waterproof walking shoes for deck walking. Local benefits? Yes Overall rating? A wonderful experience (more)Roger Labbatt

All of the activities were amazing but sleeping out under the stars was a real highlight. Outstanding 10/10. (more)Rebecca Allen
The most memorable was landing on the Antarctic peninsula - our seventh continent! Definitely ten out of ten! Wonderfully organised! An amazing experience! We learnt so much! (more)Margaret Shaw
The second was sea kayaking around Danco Island. The water was still, there were iceberg all over the place which we paddled through, and penguins were jumping out of the water all around us. The landscape was stunning, and I will never forget this activity. (more)Jack Clancy

Memorable parts? Seeing the interplay between the animals, icebergs, glaciers, sea and sky. Tips? First: TAKE THE TRIP TO ANTARCTICA. It is unforgettable. If Miami is not on a direct route to Buenos Aires, fly there directly.Be sure to bring the right clothing. Being out on the water or a hill is COLD with the wrong clothes. Spend as much time on the bridge of the ship as possible. Go to all of the lectures. Meet new people Local benefits? No people to benefit in Antarctica. However,... (more)Stephen Kohn
Polar bear watching cruise in Svalbard, Norway
From
£4,250

Memorable parts? The whole thing was amazing, being able to go out to parts of Svalbard that other ships can't get to was fantastic, and the wildlife that we saw there was the overall highlight. Tips? Book directly with the operator (the actual company that runs the trip - rather than an agent) to ensure that you get the correct packing list, pick-up information, flights, etc. Local benefits? Yes definitely, the operator are obviously very concerned with preserving the nature... (more)Renny Gye
Spitsbergen wildlife cruises

Memorable parts? Seeing a mother polar bear and her two cubs walking on the ice floes walking along them then diving in and swimming to the next one. The cubs following on behind her. Fabulous! Tips? Be warm but also have some smart casual clothes to wear in the evening. When inside of the boat you can be relatively warm - have those layers for going out on deck where it can be cooler but you can watch the midnight sun or enjoy the on deck BBQ. If you want good photographs make sure... (more)Susie Barrett
Antarctica, Falklands and South Georgia cruises
From

Memorable parts? The highlight of the trip for me was always going to be South Georgia, which has fascinated me for years and entirely lived up to my very high expectations. What a stunningly beautiful place! We were extremely fortunate as we approached the island because there was no cloud cover and we could see the full magnificence of the snowy peaks in all their glory - a rare occurrence apparently. During three whole days around this incredible island, we made a numerous landings and... (more)Roger Bilder

Arctic cruise adventure holiday
From
£3,272

Memorable parts? The holiday was great throughout but the highlight has to be seeing our first polar bear with 2 cubs! The scenery was also spectacular. Tips? Take a range of clothes for all temperatures. I did not expect it to be high 20s 200 miles north of the Arctic circle! but I wasn't complaining! Local benefits? All efforts were made to reduce environmental impact. Overall rating? Excellent trip, good mix of activities and high standard of food and accommodation (more)Judith Olsen
Falkland Islands holiday
From
£2,463
including domestic flights only
Memorable parts? Everything was memorable from the penguins on the Falkland Islands to the turtles on Ascension Island. Learning about the very different cultures in these places was something life changing and the welcome we received everywhere was the best I have ever known. Tips? The flight from Santiago is very long (14 hours) and as LANChile won't let you book single flights and so charge for return it is better to travel both ways by Airbridge from Brize Norton. This does away... (more)Di Lammas
Antarctic expedition cruise, fly the Drake passage
From

Memorable parts? Stunning Antarctic views, penguin colonies, whales ... Kayaking, swimming in Antarctic Ocean! Tips? As the weather in Antarctica is highly unpredictable, it is advisable to have enough travel insurance. There is always a chance of the trip being cancelled because of adverse weather conditions. There is no refund even if the trip is cancelled. Local benefits? Yes Overall rating? A lifetime experience (more)KK Chan
West Greenland photography tour
From
£3,900

Memorable parts? It was all memorable but if I had to pick one thing it would be the boat ride to the Icebergs. I'm not too keen on boats but I was persuaded to go and was stunned by the beauty and majesty of the area. Tips? Do it, you won't regret going to such a beautiful place. Local benefits? I think the group as a whole was environmentally aware of the impacts of man in such a delicate ecosystem. Also it benefited local people, particularly in Oqaatsut where local people... This was the most incredible holiday - the staff on our ship were so efficient and hospitable, the landings were well managed and offered a diverse range of activities (hiking, sliding down the slopes on our stomachs, seals/penguins/birds - and the occasional whale), fascinating lectures, and a wonderful small ship environment. (more)Barbara Wilson

All of it was memorable, but if I had to pick it would be my first sight of Antarctica which was at sunrise, wow! And my 30 minute dive with a leopard seal. But it was all amazing. (more)Stacy Valentine
Most memorable was diving around the ice bergs and snorkelling with the leopard seal. Real WOW factor. (more)Judith Bewell

Memorable parts? The wildlife, the scenery, the ice, basically all of it Tips? Spend as much time on deck, you never know when you may see something, really take in every moment we are privelidged to be able to travel and see such wonders. Local benefits? Memorable parts? The sub antarctic islands, wildlife and the icebergs. Tips? Prepare for a big sea voyage and lots of time to spare. Local benefits? There are no people, but the environment is excellent and getting better as recovery from last 2 centuries of exploitation has taken place. Nz and Aust governments should be congratulated on the feral pest controls. Overall rating? Up there with the big ones. (more)Robert Mock

Memorable parts? There are many.......the pain of my feet defrosting after several hours in -35 deg and inappropriate footwear....... the incredible beauty of the icebergs in the Illulisaat Iceford.......the angst of the old dog, chained and half wild at the prospect of being taken along with the dog pack to run......the smiley, old Inuit couple who cooked and cleaned for us in Oqaatsut. Tips? Probably wise to know how to use your camera before you arrive in Greenland, where the... (more)Natasha Moody
