Catalonia family mountain biking & activity holiday, Spain
Memorable parts? The atmosphere. The amazing biking. The friendliness of the Spaniards and our hosts. The excellent food. Tips? Make sure you research all there is to do so that you can take advantage of exactly what you like best. The region, in close proximity to Mas Pelegri, is absolutely full of incredible things to do, especially sporting activities. We were full to the brim AND we'd have liked to do more research even before going. Local benefits? Yes. By... (more)Jeneva Patterson

Amalfi Coast and Bay of Naples holidays
Memorable parts? Most exciting was definitely Walk of the Gods, from Bomerano where we stayed to Positano over 2000' down on the coast. Fantastic views surrounded by wildflowers and herbs, across precipitous slopes and finally descending steps through cacti gardens from Montpertuso. But I also have to say I was surpised by how attractive Naples was, with its very elegant seafront. Tips? The combination of mountains and coast means that you can experience every sort of weather in... (more)Juliet Dunn
From £949 - £1149 including UK flights

We had a brilliant holiday. The food and hospitality were excellent and our hosts were intimately familiar with the language, locality, food, history and culture. The hotel is as off the beaten track as one could imagine and is in a tranquil and scenic setting. (more)David Graham

Catalonia family activity holiday, Spain
Memorable parts? Staying in a welcoming and comfortable hotel in a beautiful part of Spain, with delightful hosts, and masses of available activities. Tips? Stay at here, it's great. Local benefits? Yes, all of the above. We booked several activities with local companies and ate in local restaurants. We were able to travel extensively by bike rather than car. Overall rating? Excellent. We have all returned fit, healthy and happy. (more)Mary Anne Roffs

Wildlife holiday in Sri Lanka, private departure
Memorable parts? Being at Mihintale on a Poya day was a great experience, seeing a historic site still attended and used as part of Sri Lankan culture, vibrant and busy with people celebrating family and practicing their faith. The walk at dawn over Horton Plains to the beautiful World's End. And you can't beat the Elephants. Tips? Do your research and discuss what you want out of your holiday with John. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. Local benefits? I think pretty... (more)Cara Foord

Italian Alps inn accommodation in Piedmont, Italy
Gosh, difficult to say which part out of so many! I am reviewing the holiday five months later and still remember everything about our stay here. The delicious food and warm hospitality from the hosts, the beautiful scenery and the long walks will stay with me forever, I think. (more)Bill Reid
The kindness of our hosts, the nice balanced way they shared and included us in their individual enthusiasm and warmth, the pertinent information about local and Piemonte region, without coming too close were most memorable. Excellent holiday. (more)Anna Welsing
Whilst we have many very happy memories of our recent 5 weeks in Europe all involved voted that the week was 'the' most memorable. This was primarily a result of the passion that both Marla and Fabrizio bring to the running of the accommodation and to ensuring the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. Of course this professionalism is ably supported by the fantastic scenery and interesting history of the area. (more)Neal Dalgliesh
From €60 per couple per night

Volunteering with bears in Romania
Bears! Bears ! Bears!......absolutely amazing to spend time with these wonderful creatures. (more)Sarah Burman
I have volunteered with other organisations in conservation and animal welfare and found in comparison the co-ordination for this was exemplary, the time working was balanced by time I had to wander the sanctuary or explore the surrounding area. Highly recommended! (more)Clanci Ferguson
Amazing! I was taking a year's sabbatical and this trip was the top of my list. It didn't disappoint and should be on every animal lover's 'bucket list'. I went for 6 weeks, returned for another 6 weeks the following year and fully intend to go back as soon as I can! (more)Estelle Barnes

Vietnam culture and beach holiday
It was excellent. I would definitely recommend this sort of tour for a first visit. We had never had a guide or arranged tour before so it really made the difference knowing that tours had been prepaid and pick ups and cars had been pre arranged. (more)Val Bodington
Both the visit to the Cu Chi tunnels and the day on the Mekong Delta was the most memorable. (more)Emma Miller

Walking holiday in Tuscany
Very good!....It was lovely to be looked after by the family at Braccicorti who housed and fed us wonderfully. Sara our guide took us to shops in the local area who sold local produce as well and we could buy some things like home grown sun dried tomatoes and red wine from the farm we were staying on. (more)Sue Haseltine
The only holiday I've even gone on that I would do again. (more)Mary Watkin
Most memorable was reaching the top of Monte Prado, the highest point in Tuscany and no other group in sight. The best kept secret, long may it continue. I plan to go back! (more)Marie Therese Filippi

Umbria hotel, 15th century country hotel, Italy

I would thoroughly recommend it. We have no experience of this kind of undertaking and we had an exceptional time that catered perfectly for a family of 4 including an 11 year old girl and 14 year old boy who all valued the tour immeasurably. (more)hugh garling
Absolutely incredible! The children loved it (age 8 and 5) as well as the parents, we had so many rich experiences and wonderful stories to take home. (more)Sarah Bland
Excellent, it was so good. There is nothing I could fault everything met or exceeded our expectations, some of the main highlights were: the homestays, the food, the people, the variety of activities, visiting a local school and orphanage, elephants, the Ayurveda. (more)Juliet Shayler

Volunteering with bears in Cambodia
I loved every second of my trip - the people, the country, the bears I worked with... (more)Louise Bednarz
Meeting the bears and being able to really make a difference to their day-to-day lives with enrichment, feeding and cleaning; some of the things we were doing (such as enrichment to keep the bears active and happy) wouldn't get done unless we were there to help out! (more)Heather Reynolds
We were so close to the bears and keepers that you feel part of the project rather than just a short stay helper. I think we were really lucky... to have the baby bear (Lola) arrive when we were there too. (more)Anon

Alentejo self catering cottage, Portugal
Memorable parts? Walking down to the spring-fed pool past a fig tree with fruit just coming into ripeness; picking and eating those figs straight off the tree. Tips? You need a car. The nearby town of Vila Vicosa is lovely, and the weekly farmer's market at Estremoz is really excellent. The little market in Borba is good too, but much smaller. Local benefits? Yes. probably in that order: definitely benefited local people, reduced impacts, and didn't have much effect on conservation.... (more)Richard Mansell
From €80 - €100 per cottage per night
Marine conservation holiday in Thailand
Memorable parts? Arrival at Koh Tao and finding the lovely coral sand beach behind the dive school at Chalok Ban Bay. Then, exploring the fascinating underwater environment. Tips? Volunteering in Thailand, wildlife rescue centre
I went to the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Thailand, this was a fantastic project helping animals who had been mostly kept as pets. Cycling holidays in France
Memorable parts? The ride from St Remy to Les Baux and back. Fantastic scenery - vineyard, olive groves, pine forests - and eventually Les Baux. Accommodation in St Remy was lovely - the best of the trip. Tips? Take your own bike - the rentals are heavy and cumbersome. If you don't have an odometer or GPS you MUST have a detailed map of the area. Trip maps are lacking, details are in kilometers, side roads are hard to find.
