The traditional barbecue Nick and Dasha have prepared to us with Czech sausages coming from local farmers was really great. Being at the fireplace outside each one of us learning how to get the sausages at their best, is still one of the remarkable moments of our holidays, even for Manuel (our 7 year old son). The location is fantastic, quiet, very pretty, close to the sea and close to the mountains. From the balcony you have a wonderful view over the bay of Cefalu. Memorable parts? Scenic and serene, our stay was idyllic. Aside from the beautiful location, our hosts - Trevor and Debbie Benton - made us feel so comfortable and welcome that it felt like home. We stayed during the Christmas holiday and the Bentons included our family in their Christmas Eve celebrations. Memorable parts? Just being able to completely relax and read and enjoy ourselves. The sea is beautiful and clear. The whole atmosphere of the place is very chilled. Batteries definitely fully recharged. Tips? Vatera, Lesvos is a place to go if you want a completely chilled 'do nothing' kind of holiday (which we did). Memorable parts? Making sure that I drove slowly enough NOT to drive into some of the sheep, cattle, deer that like to sit and ruminate on the roads! The glorious autumn sun on the turning leaves. Not New England, but very beautiful. Ambling along the white sandy beaches and having them to myself, more or less! Tips?
