Catalonia family mountain biking & activity holiday, Spain
Memorable parts? The atmosphere. The amazing biking. The friendliness of the Spaniards and our hosts. The excellent food. Tips? Make sure you research all there is to do so that you can take advantage of exactly what you like best. The region, in close proximity to Mas Pelegri, is absolutely full of incredible things to do, especially sporting activities. We were full to the brim AND we'd have liked to do more research even before going. Local benefits? Yes. By... (more)Jeneva Patterson

Catalan horse riding holiday in Spain
Memorable parts? Communal meals with so many colourful and friendly people! The wonderful family who ran the hotel who couldn't do enough for you, but didn't crowd you. The beautiful landscape in the middle of nowhere ,only 10mins from the nearest town. Every sporting facility provided, pool, gym, cycling and running and horse riding locally. Even in you're not up to treading the boards, the terrace and poolside are wonderful places to chill out. Tips? Preferably have a car, though... (more)Caroline O

The location is stunning, Marina and Gianluca make you feel welcome, and they work exceedingly hard to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay. We came to learn cookery, but Marina ensures you know about so much more. I can't wait to try some of the recipes we have been taught. (more)Joanne Wilkins

Belize wildlife conservation holiday
It was a very positive experience being in a country that treasures the natural environment and it is government policy to protect at least 40% of the land for nature. I felt that after 3 weeks I had only scratched the surface of what there is to find out about Belize and definitely plan on returning. (more)Cathy Bisset
Once in a life time experience...meeting all the wild animals was the most exciting part of the trip. (more)Kerry Sedman

Husky safari in Finland
The most memorable part of the holiday was not just one thing, but many memories of which - flying down hill trying to control my sledge and not fall off, making snow angels before going back into the sauna, lunch on an open fire on a frozen lake, the views, the noise of the dogs as we got ready in the morning to leave. Small group holiday to Burma
Burma is such a fabulous country to visit - our itinerary included one or more highlights every day. The crowning glory of our tour was our guide Po. He looked after our group of six as if we were family. (more)Stephanie Diggon
It was all new and exciting for that reason …… very heart warming to see what is flourishing in Myanmar and also fearful that some not such good things come with the advent of more tourism. Our trip to Pagan and Inle Lake are the highlights for me. (more)Jane Edington

Memorable parts? The 30k mountain bike ride that took in parts of the local scenery that would have remained unseen without the guidance and assistance of our host. Tips? For full flexibility hire a car. Local benefits? Not especially although the riding stables did do well out of the visitors. Overall rating? A great holiday and well worth considering for a return. The hosts accommodate families that want to be off the beaten track just as well as cycling or other... (more)Mark Burberry

Morocco small group adventure tour
Memorable parts? I loved the night in the Sahara and travelling through the High Atlas Tips? There is a lot of time spent on the bus so bring a good book. Also remember the driver sees this landscape all the time and while it is extraordinary to us to him it's not so shout stop when you need to and get off to admire and photograph. Local benefits? I feel it may have had some benefit by bringing income into some of the more remote areas but I don't feel I spent enough time... (more)Jane Matthews

I loved every second of my trip - the people, the country, the bears I worked with... (more)Louise Bednarz
Meeting the bears and being able to really make a difference to their day-to-day lives with enrichment, feeding and cleaning; some of the things we were doing (such as enrichment to keep the bears active and happy) wouldn't get done unless we were there to help out! (more)Heather Reynolds
We were so close to the bears and keepers that you feel part of the project rather than just a short stay helper. I think we were really lucky... to have the baby bear (Lola) arrive when we were there too. (more)Anon

Memorable parts? There were so many memorable moments - we loved the tea plantations, spice farms, the friendliness of all the people, the scenery when we were up in the hills, the houseboat and staying in the backwaters Tips? We had added on a few days on the beach, at the end of the holiday. This was based upon experience of other tours where we had felt you needed some time to rest/relax at the end. Sikkim tailor made tour, north India
Memorable parts? Probably the Tibetan refugees in Darjeeling holding a candlelit vigil for the Pachen Llama who has been missing in China for many years. Also the orchids and magnolias in flower. Tips? Be very careful about the operator you use. We went to Sikkim and West Bengal and feel ripped off as the accommodation was mostly not the value we paid. We checked the costs of the places we stayed and we were hugely overcharged. Could have had better hotels and paid less. A couple... (more)Linda Robertson

Tips? Be prepared for it to change your views on life. Local benefits? Many local people were employed in the reserve and the studies that were being carried out influenced how the reserve was managed and that benefited the locals. As the research carried out was the same as the normal... (more)Louise Sexton

Volunteering in Thailand, wildlife rescue centre
I went to the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Thailand, this was a fantastic project helping animals who had been mostly kept as pets. I had so many fantastic experiences, and the centre itself was in an idyllic area, on the grounds of a Buddhist temple. One highlight was spotting wild elephants in a nearby national park, after dark. (more)Olly Carney
