Belize wildlife conservation holiday
It was a very positive experience being in a country that treasures the natural environment and it is government policy to protect at least 40% of the land for nature. The most memorable part of the holiday was not just one thing, but many memories of which - flying down hill trying to control my sledge and not fall off, making snow angels before going back into the sauna, lunch on an open fire on a frozen lake, the views, the noise of the dogs as we got ready in the morning to leave. Memorable parts? Fantastic insight into many different cultures. Stunning and varied scenery in wonderful hot weather from the might of the Panama Canal to the jaw dropping beauty of the rain and cloud forests to the awesome splendour of the region's volcanoes and craters Tips? Do as much research as possible before your trip - I wished I had done more! Try and learn some basic conversational Spanish - I wish I had learnt more! Local benefits? Kerala cultural holiday, tailor made
Memorable parts? There were so many memorable moments - we loved the tea plantations, spice farms, the friendliness of all the people, the scenery when we were up in the hills, the houseboat and staying in the backwaters Tips? We had added on a few days on the beach, at the end of the holiday. This was based upon experience of other tours where we had felt you needed some time to rest/relax at the end. With hindsight this wasn't necessary with this trip. The time would have been better... (more)Andrew Dobson

Sikkim tailor made tour, north India
Memorable parts? Probably the Tibetan refugees in Darjeeling holding a candlelit vigil for the Pachen Llama who has been missing in China for many years. Also the orchids and magnolias in flower. Tips? Be very careful about the operator you use. We went to Sikkim and West Bengal and feel ripped off as the accommodation was mostly not the value we paid. We checked the costs of the places we stayed and we were hugely overcharged. Could have had better hotels and paid less. A couple... (more)Linda Robertson

Volunteering in Thailand, wildlife rescue centre
I went to the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Thailand, this was a fantastic project helping animals who had been mostly kept as pets. I would recommend this experience and holiday to anyone who loves dolphins and wants to swim with them and see them in the wild. Memorable parts? Torres Del Paine national park, with it’s beautiful scenery. I could have stayed forever. And the most memorable bit was when we saw a puma! Every day had a memorable event though, I can’t believe how much was packed into two weeks. Tips? Try to buy your own international flights to save money, although going into Santiago and leaving from Buenos Aires this may be expensive to do without the agent. Make sure you are used to mountain walking as some treks are 8... (more)Beth Barnes
