Croatia family holidays

Croatia family holidays

Croatia family holidays are for water babies. Pick an island or two, pack your cossies, flip flops, water shoes for rocky escapades, a load of sun protection and jump in. On a kayak or just swimming. Inland holds lots of family fun too, with rafting and river kayaking in the mountainous Gorski Kota region or Plitvice Lakes National Park, awarded UNESCO World Heritage status because of its sheer beauty.

Brac Island family activity holiday, Croatia
Memorable parts? The people, the food, the island! We felt at home with the staff of the wonderful Illyrian Resort; Ivan, Maira, Maya, Nino, Maida, and the owners, a wonderful couple. This is a fantastic family owned business that provides the nicest and most soothing atmosphere to relax and enjoy with your family. Tips? This is an excellent holiday destination for families who want to avoid noisy, big resort type of holidays. The island of Brac is absolutely gorgeous, the people... (more)Fernando Colchero

The holiday was brilliant. Activity balanced with proper relaxation. We have come back really rejuvenated. Craig and Xania (and Zora-the dog) work very well together to pull the experience together so you can just get on and enjoy your break. (more)Paul Irving
Excellent! The best parts were actively exploring the Island of Vis, on bikes, kayaks and foot. Beautiful place, beautiful people. (more)Diane Johnson
Our kids, aged 5 and 11 had a terrific time and really loved the activities as well as mucking about in the sea, snorkelling and swimming...Great! "Fantastic, awesome, really good!" (comments from the kids). (more)Diana Lloyd

Croatia activity holiday, Gorski Kotar region
Memorable parts? Views from the mountains across to the Adriatic coast, walking in the Una River National Park in Bosnia, drinking Turkish coffee made on a small fire in the mountains, swimming in the icy clear green water of a small river and the majestic beauty of the Plitvice Lakes. Tips? Make sure you have strong supportive footwear-as advised on booking, a lightweight day sac and lightweight kagoule Local benefits? We spent 3 nights staying in rooms in the homes of local... Kayaking in beautiful landscapes with clear blue seas (more)Jules Dawkins
The most memorable or exciting part of your holiday? Kayaking from Lopud to Sunj on day three of the holiday, the wind got up a bit and it was exciting riding through the waves. (more)Roddy MacLeod
I loved almost everything! We had booked the sea-kayaking trip and were upgraded to the catamaran sailing trip for 5 of the 7 days, which was fantastic! I enjoyed seeing the different islands while sailing, biking and kayaking, as well as all the meals the guides organised for us at local people's houses. (more)Astryd Letrud

Plitvice Lakes family holiday in Croatia
Memorable parts? It was a wonderful week and all the activities were exciting and fun. Being able to leave the hotel to go straight on the river for Stand up Paddle boarding in clear 'cold' water was an excellent way to get used to the water. Both Kayaking days were exhilarating working for young and old alike with good options to take the cascades, jump them or walk down. The Lakes were really beautiful, the cycle experience was complimented by a wonderful stop at the mill with an amazing... (more)Dawn Elvin

Multi activity holiday in Croatia
Fantastic! Beautiful country, very peaceful and relaxed but adventurous. Our guides were excellent, informative and relaxed. The whole experience was great. We really enjoyed the activities everyday - rafting, especially - it was beautiful and thrilling! We also enjoyed that we had plenty of downtime during the evening, to relax and soak up the village life. (more)Emma Buckland
Wonderful!...We stayed in a rural hotel and so hope that this provided local jobs in this lovely location, soon to be a conservation area (more)Mary Purton
5 Star. Croatia was wonderful and the tour guides really looked after us.... The best bit? The walk to and climb up Gromavaca (1,675m). I think it is the highest peak I have climbed and the view from the top fantastic. To the west was the Adriatic, with its parched rugged coastline, to the north, south and east back into Croatia with the white limestone mountains and dark green forests. (more)Michael Hasnip

Dubrovnik villa holidays, Croatia
Memorable parts? The Views from the Villa are stunning! Tips? Not suitable for people who find it difficult to walk up steep hills. The set meal (3 courses with wine) at the Konoba Asterea- Mlini for 85 kuna is extremely good value and well worth the trek up the hill. Local benefits? It definitely benefited local people, as the owner moves out of her home for 4 months of the year in order to repay her mortgage on the Villa. As for the environmental impact, I find it difficult... Croatia adventure holiday for families
Memorable parts? The Zrmanja River canoe safari. Beautiful scenery, good rapids, swimming and jumping in river. Tips? Prepare for a long day in high temperatures in July/August, although we are told it can rain. Take lots of sunscreen and water. The days were long and tiring but well worth it. Distances were longer than we thought. We were not aware that the itinerary would change for no reason. Optional excursions were very expensive. Local benefits? I am sure it benefited... Beach hotel in Croatia
Memorable parts? Ljubo and his father, owners of the accommodation, made our eight day stay a most happy one. They were most welcoming and helpful, providing for our every need. The pansion is clean and the room we stayed in was comfortable with a lovely view out over the bay. Ljubo provided us with great breakfasts with fruit from his own farm. Loviste is a lovely small town of only 200 inhabitants. Tips? We hired a car from Dubrovnik airport, but used it only occasionally,... (more)Caroline Brookes

Stone house retreat in Croatia
Never before have I been on a holiday where I was made so welcome and my every need was catered for. Shirley and Nigel are wonderful hosts - the exact amount of care and attention but without intruding on my peace and relaxation. (more)June Weston
Most memorable? The Istrian night - a chance to sample some locally produced and prepared food at the neighbours house. We also enjoyed visiting the nearby hilltop towns, especially Groznjan. (more)Dave Horley
My holiday was much much more than I could ever have expected. I was promised a retreat in Croatia and I got a paradise of calm, rest and healing. (more)Freda Newlands

Klek self catering accommodation in Croatia
Memorable parts? Absolutely beautiful location. Clear warm seas and two nice beaches. The accommodation was very comfortable and really accessible to the waterfront and beach. It had three terraces two at the front upper and lower lever and one at the back which was shared with the other four houses and with a very nice garden where the children could feed the tortoises. The rear area had a larger area for eating with barbeque. The different situations of the terraces meant that you had shade... (more)Anne O'Brien
