Memorable parts? The terracotta warriors at Xi'an and the Great Wall. Cherry, our guide although very young, was dedicated and gave us great tips and help when choosing restaurants and outings. Our group integrated very well and everyone was on time for going places. Tips? Travel light, but do take toilet paper!! Local benefits? Memorable parts? Burmese people lovely and the Inle Lake was amazing - just like the photos you see Tips? If you go to Burma just make sure you have large dollar notes, as you will get a better rate of interest. Currency changers offer the best rate. Internet connection is poor and you need to get a local sim card when you are over there, but managed to have a wonderful holiday without outside communication. Local benefits? Yes Overall rating? Highlights of Indochina tour
Very good...I appreciated the variety - everything from overnight in a village in Vietnam and being entertained by the locals in that beautiful place, to crawling through Cu Chi tunnels (very dark)to Silk production, making rice paper ... also liked Angkor Wat and associated temples, fascinating. Memorable parts? The 3 day cruise on the Nile and the history Tips? Be prepared for some fierce heat, hat and sunscreen essential, also the local stall holders can be very has to rember it's their livlihood and not take offence. Local benefits? yes, Egypt is desperate for tourism at the moment and those depending on tourists are really doing it tough. Memorable parts? The hike up to Tiger's Nest. Great walk and once you get to the steps it is nowhere near as bad as you think. I was told there were 700 steps. With hindsight I wish I'd counted them as it didn't feel like that many. Also the Paro Festival was such a colourful affair and fascinating to observe how important it was to the locals. Tips?
