Tailor made tours of Oman
Driving through a Wadi with water flowing through it. Driving the sand dunes in the desert. The mountain scenery is great. (more)Adrian O Malley
The most memorable part was the surprise at arriving at the camp in the Wahiba Sands for our night of Wild Camping and instead of finding the little 2-man tent that we had expected we found a luxury tent complete with bathroom, proper beds, carpets, oriental cushions and lanterns which had been set up just for us. (more)Sally Frohlich
Driving down to Wadi Bani Awf. Awesome. Also the night in the desert where the operator found us a camp where we were completely alone, 8 km through the dunes from the main camp, itself small and remoter than the bigger camps. (more)Peta Constable
From £1760 including UK flights
Oman small group tour
Memorable parts? The desert most of all and the rest was memorable Tips? Local benefits? No Overall rating? It was wonderful. The people were warm and gracious. Our guide did a great job and was a superb quick driver. A few things that your company should consider. We made 2 requests for information about the host company and a telephone number and name of the contact person in Oman. We did not receive anything. Fortunately it turned out well. Secondly, the hotel... (more)Dennis Shulha

Morocco holiday, Marrakech to the Sahara
Excellent...great places to stay, lovely people...we talked with our guides. We were not just talked to! We were out of our comfort zone when we arranged it for us to share with old friends...who had flown half way across the world...but we were not disappointed! (more)Derek Moorhouse
The scenery in the Sahara is spectacular. Marrakech is an incredibly bustling city and the guided walks in the High Atlas are fantastic too (more)Derek Facer
Wonderful time as a family. Being in the remote High Atlas with our son so he could appreciate how much different the lifestyle is in some parts of the world. He held a baby goat that was born an hour earlier during the daily trip to the high pastures. (more)Pamela Bohl

Egypt desert & culture tour
The most memorable parts of the holiday were Camel ride round the Pyramids (you do have to barter hard), Abel Simbel and best of all Valley of the Kings. (more)Jo Carter
The whole holiday has been a dream of mine for 25 years and it more than lived up to expectations. The pyramids, temples and tombs were amazing. The Nile cruise was 10 times better than we expected - lovely staff and surroundings, especially the surprise animals made out of towels on our beds each night! (more)Janice Gould
The whole Egypt holiday was memorable and each part was different and equally exciting. Spent a few days in Cairo seeing the sights - the Pyramids are phenomenal. (more)Irene Ennenga

The most memorable part of the holiday was the camel ride into & out of the desert - not knowing whether I would survive the lurches down over the top of the dunes! (more)Kathleen Culliton

Morocco small group holiday, beach & gorges
Memorable parts? Blue and white Chefchaouen, berber villages, camel trek, tanneries in Fes, Volubilis and a lot of couscous and tajines. Tips? It is a lot of travelling. So if you are looking for a very relaxing or private holiday, this is not the one. But if you are looking for a great trip with a lot to see and experience, learn and eat, go for it. Local benefits? Yes. We used local hotels, local guides and local restaurants. But we could do more in cleaning Morocco from... (more)Kristina Mδnd

Marrakech & the Sahara holiday in Morocco
Great trip for anyone looking for a variety of experiences - desert, mountains, city - packed into a week. The camel trip was a memorable experience, as was glamping in the desert and star-gazing. (more)Kate Charles
Walking in the Atlas in general was terrific with the beautiful scenery. Sleeping outside under the stars was also amazing... Second to none! (more)Jennifer Baker Dallison
Visiting the souks in Marrakech....Great (more)Nicola Ardern

Rajasthan desert adventure
Memorable parts? All visits to Rajastani palaces, forts and havelis were a fantastic experience, especially since the city guides were really good and very excited to tell us all about it. The Taj Mahal is certainly a highlight, but my top experience was visiting the living and breathing city within the walls of Jaisalmer fort. Other highlights for me included the miniature painting school in Udaipur, the carpet and block printing workshop in Jaipur, the observatory in Jaipur and the makrana... (more)Monica Filkova

Gobi Desert expedition
Memorable parts? That's a hard decision to make. The Gobi desert in Mongolia awesome. I took around 4000 pictures and movies that we'll put on our website along with a travel log. We really liked the sand dunes and camels. I got some great pictures of horses, camels, people and the environment. It was awesome staying in Ger camps. Our driver, Ot, was awsome. Tips? Be flexible. Know that your guide and driver are very experienced. It's typical for a car to break down but the driver's... (more)Charlotte Lundemo

Budget camel safari in Morocco
It was a good holiday with an insight into a different world which was the highlight of it for us (more)Gabriella Guglielminotti
My daughter's sheer delight in "her" camel (called Yellow) & my son's face as we set off on the camels on the 1st day, his 13th birthday. My children playing blind mans bluff with the younger 3 Fayous, watching them all wrestling in a heap on the floor. (more)Kirk Hutton
While we only stayed with the family properly for one night, they were equally warm, inviting, embracing and served up a fantastic couscous...My husband and I truly enjoyed the silence and peacefulness of the 5-day journey. I like to sum it up by likening it to a 5-day interior camping trip, with a camel instead of a canoe. We were in Morocco for a whole month, and this was definitely our favourite part. It is definitely not for everyone, but it was perfect for us! (more)Erin Kelly

Adelaide to Alice Springs tour, Australia
Memorable parts? The wonderful walks -- canyons, gorges, other natural features -- that revealed to us the natural riches of the Outback, from birds and other creatures to the land itself. Also... the bush knowledge and sensitivity of our leader, Steve. He added immeasurably to our appreciation, and therefore our pleasure. Tips? Probably more important for Europeans than Canadians or Americans (who live in big-scale countries): realize emotionally, not just intellectually, that once... (more)Penny Williams
From AU $2450 - AU $2495 excluding flights
Festival in the Desert tour in Mali
Memorable parts? Trekking in the Dogon. Amazing scenery, wonderful people and interesting culture. Tips? Take thermals for the desert and lots of tissues - changes in day/night temperatures and the sand can give rise to lots of runny noses! Stop worrying about time - it'll happen when it does - then again it might not. Something else even more wonderful might occur...It's all part of the experience. Local benefits? As a group most of us were aware of the impact we could have... (more)Etta Geras

Egypt holiday, tailor made
Memorable parts? Seeing the ancient Egyptian sites that are so old and so famous, to actually see them in real life. And to be able to see so much in a few days without feeling rushed! Tips? It is worth if possible to book a private guide, as the only (somewhat) negative comment is that with a big group (off the cruise) the guided tours are not as interesting than when it is exactly according to your timetable and interests. Local benefits? Yes, in principle, but given the... (more)Katrin Nyman-Metcalf

The most memorable part was seeing a leopard "in the wild" for the first time. I have been trying for over 35 years! (more)Linda Adams
The most memorable part of the holiday was spotting the leopard. We would have missed it & driven on, but the leaders saw it & we went back. We had to be patient because the leopard hid in a culvert, but eventually came out. (more)Alan Reimer

Dakhla Oasis desert accommodation in Egypt
Memorable parts? The lodge was set in a lovely location high above the oasis at Dakhla. The views were wonderful from the decks and verandas. Our highlight of the trip was taking a half day camel trip into the sand hills behind the lodge. The camel guides and camels were great. We had a campfire lunch complete with roasted corn that we had gathered from a date farm the day before. The next day our guide took us to a 1000 year old mud brick village in the heart of Dakhla--complete with old... (more)Nancy Reinisch

Adventure holiday in Rajasthan
Memorable parts? I will never forget bicycling down some of the quite back country lanes of Rajasthan - children running across field of yellow mustard flowers to greet you as you bicycle past - pausing in a small village to meet the people weaving a beautiful rug on the huge loom - spotting a beautiful Kingfisher perched in a tree as you pause to admire. Tips? Enquire as to what you might bring along to benefit a local school or such that you might be visiting along the way! Local... (more)Mike Perry

Uzbekistan holiday, silk road and desert
Memorable parts? Experiencing a rare storm in the desert on the journey to the shores of the Aral Sea. The tracks soon turned into raging streams, there was thunder and lightning and even hail. We had been prepared for dust but the 4X4 drivers quickly adapted to floods and mud so we had an exciting off road experience. Tips? The wild camping and spending a night in a yurt contrast well with sightseeing in the fabulous cities of Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand. Be adaptable and enjoy... (more)Diana Rybinski
From £1895 including domestic flights only
Oman holiday, Forts and Deserts of Oman
Memorable parts? The desert, mountains and hospitality in Oman. Tips? Distances are long in Muscat so make sure you book a hotel with a convenient location. We made a tailor-made contract with the operator. However, the tour was subcontracted to a local travel agent - not ideal when problems arise! Often there was a miss-match between given itinerary and actual plan, not that we missed anything but somehow annoying. Book your holiday directly and you are in control! Local benefits? Not... (more)Kirsten Christensen
From £2290 excluding flights
Holiday in Mongolia
Memorable parts? The solar eclipse. Also visiting a nomadic family one night. Tips? Not really applicable as a one-off trip to see solar eclipse and Mongolia along the way. General tips would be Mongolia is a big country with poor infrastructure. Make sure your trip doesn't involve too much driving or you will spend your whole time on a bus and not out seeing things. Covering 400km in one day, while possible, is not pleasant. Local benefits? Yes and no. It was run by a Mongolian... (more)Sam Grainne
