    Staying at the eco lodge enables the nature reserve to be sustained and there are plenty of local farm shops, a fantastic local butchers (with lovely cheeses as well as very good meat and chutneys) and pubs close by to enjoy! (more)Rebecca Swarbrick

    Memorable parts? The large pond/small lake was perfect. Our children spent most of their waking time in the water, on the paddle board, in the boat or on the island. Some of us adults joined them ... but at the end of October, with no wetsuits, we mainly left it to them! It was heaven. We were able to sit nearby and talk, clutch hot drinks and laugh and take photos, without spoiling their fun. And all the while knowing there was a cosy house with woodburner lit, just a minute away.     Memorable parts? The most memorable was the lack of excitement!! What we wanted was peace quiet and lovely countryside and we got it in buckets. Tips? Take all your strain and stresess and they will fully blow away by the fantastic place, the shepherds hut. Bring a healthy appetite. You are going to need it for the lovely pub lunches. On a practical side an ordnance survey map, walking shoes and a camera and all the clothes you would need for the British weather. Other than that,... (more)David Green
