So many memorable parts, but perhaps the large adult male Orangutan climbing on to the viewing platform at Sepilok, sending people in all directions as the officials tried to clear the path for him.
(more)I hesitate to write this review for selfish reasons. Why? Because this holiday is so wonderful I'd rather keep it a secret! Situated on the southern slopes of Mt Batakaru in remotest Bali, this place is a pocket of paradise, far removed from the ravages of the 21st century. Having spent a week there I did not want to leave.
(more)We saw monkeys in the hotel grouse, sloth and of course the scarlet macaws. We had never been to a rainforest before and could not believe how green it was. Each part was equally memorable as they offered a unique experience from other elements of the holiday. It benefited local people in that tourism is a form of job creation, whether for a hotelier, chef, waiter, tour guide, driver etc and must benefit local economies. Fabulous. We loved the great hiking trails on Saba and the cooking at the ecolodge where was stayed was absolutely fabulous! (more)Most memorable part? The Drakensberg mountains and Didima camp at Cathedral Peak provided a magical start to the holiday, with stunning scenery, fantastic hiking and lovely accommodation; we could easily have stayed much longer there.
