Memorable parts? When you've hiked in the Himalayas and the Andes, communed with the Bhutanese and the Mozambicans, you can't quite imagine that you could be stunned by something as simple as a Good Morning Vietnam trip. Memorable parts? The "adrenaline" activities - horse-riding, rafting, canyoning. Watching the children playing in the hotel pool at Arenal while the volcano puffed in the background, and feeling slightly uneasily like a citizen of Pompeii... Sitting one metre from an egg-laying turtle. Tips? A really strong insect repellent - ours was sold in a metal canister as it dissolves plastic, and seemed to be more effective than other people's! My husband, my daughter and I all had a wonderful time. It was really good for my daughter in particular to visit an Islamic country. (She has Muslim schoolfriends.) If I have to pick a highlight, it would be the flight to Abu Simbel and being there at sunrise, before the crowds. It was magical. And sailing on the felucca was wonderful, and just hanging out at the Nubian house that evening, sipping tea and chatting under the stars, having a henna tattoo, was just wonderful. Memorable parts? What we liked the most was the variation in the program - culture - nature - sports (could have been little bit more) - homestay - and definitely NOT to forget the Thai cooking!! People were extremely friendly. We definitely also enjoyed the busy life in Bangkok next to the quietness of the rafthouses - the serenity of foodgiving to the monks - the fireflies at night .... Memorable parts? Exploring Machu Picchu, and the Inca salt pans. Tips? Don't take waterproofs if you are short of space: take a plastic mac and buy a cheap umbrella; Do take altitude sickness medication; Expect to spend a lot of money on food; Don't eat salads or ice cream. Local benefits? We were putting money into the local economy by buying goods and staying in typical hotels which were not part of global chains. Overall rating? Memorable parts? The most memorable moment was probably the camel trek - sleeping under the desert stars was a fantastic experience. We also thoroughly enjoyed the trekking in the Atlas - it really felt like you were a million miles away from everything! Tips? If you go in the summer, be prepared for the high temperatures (47ºC in Merzouga!) -hats, sunscreen and drinking lots of water are all essential. Memorable parts? Climbing up the Tatra Mountains to be within sight of the Polish border. Tips? Take a good phrase book for Slovakia or brush up your German on food and drink because many of the local restaurants have no one who speaks English and the Menu is not translated into English, so without this your choice of restaurant is very limited, which means you miss out on some real gems of local village life. Every day had an amazing new experience. If I had to pick one highlight, it would be climbing the Great Wall of China, and taking the slide down, but that only slightly edges out every other day we had. Rafting down the Yulong river is a very close second. (more)Ann Galli

Memorable parts? Just the sheer beauty of the Mongolian landscape. It surpassed expectations. The wildlife - pairs of golden eagles just sitting by the road! Staying in gers was fun, as was meeting some of the local people and sampling 101 things to do with yak's milk... Tips? The weather is variable so do make sure you bring wet weather gear and a jumper for the evenings, even in summer. Take matches or a lighter for the stoves in your ger. Memorable parts? Far more interesting than expected. The expanse of history was staggering and seeing places like the Valley of the Kings that we’ve read about forever was incredible. We swam with sea turtles, sharks, rays and the most amazing range of tropical fish. At Banding Island we also saw a rare Asian elephant in the wild. But the whole holiday was great - a huge range of sights and experiences crammed into a very short time. (more)Julie Martin

My husband and two children aged 11 and 8 recently returned from an absolutely fantastic holiday with this tour operator. We were really impressed in how intimate and professional the tour was. Everything went smoothly but was also flexible enough, to allow us to spend more or less time on what we really wanted to do.
