Matt and Caroline made arrangements for us to ride, snowshoe and ski. We had never skied before and had thought that we were too old to try. However we went and took a couple of lessons and we loved it.

The peace and tranquillity were sublime. A lovely property with all the mod cons (even a coffee machine) however in wonderful rural surrounds. The garden of the property was a delight. The countryside of the Loire was beautiful, the village a short bike ride away.

The trip was 5 star born again, Liz and Mel were fantastically welcoming, extremely well informed on all aspects of the area and able to provide a very relaxing environment.

A wonderfully calming and tranquil holiday rather than an "exciting" one. Should also mention the great hospitality shown by our hosts, delicious home cooked food and generous introductions to local wines and brandies! A lovely relaxing time.

I already miss the smell of the mountains. It's a lovely, lovely place. If you can, ask for the room with the big shower upstairs as having a shower facing the mountain scenery was amazing.

My wife just loved the fact that the kids enjoyed it and thought that the hotel was marvellous.

It is almost impossible to highlight any one part of this wonderful holiday. It was the sheer attention to detail, excellent itineraries and food, thoughtfulness towards clients and generosity of all involved in the organisation, to pass on their considerable knowledge about the area that made it all so perfect.

Hiking in the Cinque Terre and cycling in Lucca were the highlights. Local trains and buses and staying in small often family run hotels certainly minimized our impact.

I rate the holiday as a wonderful experience, opening my eyes to many wonders that I could not have imagined. A fantastic experience.

Most memorable was tartiflette eaten by candlelight (cooked by the concert pianist and his wife who run the refuge) and the sound of the river in its rocky bed as we fell asleep.

We loved being surrounded by historic French villages; staying in a beautiful rustic (but VERY comfortable) 19th century stone cottage; the warmth and approachability of our hosts Nicole and Alex Crawford; and being spoilt for choice when arranging our daily activities.
