French Alps holidays

French Alps holidays

A French Alps holiday evokes every superlative in the book. And yet when you see them for the first time, they leave you speechless. The highest peak, Mont Blanc, which can be summited or circumnavigated, looks out over a collection of ranges which include the Rhone Alpes, Alpes Maritimes and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. They are elevated and exquisite hives of activity, from snowshoeing to hiking, horseriding to white water rafting, in all seasons.

Snowshoeing in the French Alps
The husky dog sledding, the ice climb, the snowshoeing itself, being out in such a beautiful environment! And our companions too - the other four people in the party were lovely, and we all got on very well together - enough in common to bond yet different enough for good conversation! (more)Angela Dennison
In terms of the most exciting part, it has to be the ice climbing...not part of our original plans but I'm so glad it was suggested. Slow down and enjoy your stay in what really is an undiscovered part of the Alps. (more)Norma Sherratt

Provence self guided walking, France
Memorable parts? Our third day walking over the ridges from La Palud to Moustiers. It was quite a hard but varied and exciting walk with great views over the Lac Sainte Croix. Tips? The Roadbook provided by the operator is almost useless. Buy walking maps, seek information elsewhere or book with another company. Local benefits? We used public transport to get to the start and from the end of the walk, though we organised this ourselves, we weren't given any advice on this... (more)Ruth Ross
