Words don’t describe what an incredible experience it was for us... but we also had a guide and porter who loved to run like we did, and they had a great sense of adventure and fantastic sense of humor... so it was a blast.

The highlights were coming across a flock of Sri Lanka Blue Magpies feeding noisily in the Sinharaja Rain Forest and seeing the nesting Painted Storks with chicks in Yala National Park. (more)Magnificent! We had a wonderful time in Lubrin. John was an excellent host - informative and very attentive. The accommodation was outstanding value for money. The gardens and pool were a real delight. We will definitely return.

The itinerary included all of the major sites you would want to see, as well as so many other amazing and fun experiences. Our guide, Ned, was extremely personable and knowledgeable, not only about the sites, but also Egyptian culture. (more)The peace and tranquility of the cortija and surrounding area. Being able to start all walks from the cortija meant that we did not have to drive. The accommodation was authentic and entirely comfortable. The owners were available and helpful if required but recognised their guest’s needs for their own space and freedom.
(more)Most memorable was diving in the warm, clear mediterranian waters with a friendly and professional guide. The driving company went out of their way to make sure we had a memorable trip. (more)The Elephant Transit Camp in Udawalawe was a fantastic example of the care Sri Lankans take of their wildlife, allowing close up views of baby elephants both in the camp and later in the National Park where the elephants are eventually re-released. (more)Having an elephant peer through the door of our banda was quite a surprise, but my favourite part was meeting lots of locals and learning bits of Swahili and tribal dialect...Tempted to give it five stars! We got to see one of the most beautiful countries on earth and gained an insight into Kenyan culture, the local people gained employment and an incentive to protect the game life. (more)This really was the best holiday we have ever had, we have struggled in the past to find somewhere that everyone enjoys which is difficult with young active children, but this accommodation and Ithaca really did mean we relaxed and enjoyed time with them whilst they also had a great time. None of us wanted to leave and we will definitely go back.

This type of holiday was a first for us and we would certainly recommend it as a way of 'giving' - you give at firsthand and that is an experience not to be missed for many many reasons, but primarily because, in return you receive so much!
