So many memorable parts, but perhaps the large adult male Orangutan climbing on to the viewing platform at Sepilok, sending people in all directions as the officials tried to clear the path for him.
(more)The holiday was full of memorable experiences from our first day when we met our fantastic driver/guide, Kapila. He seemed to really enjoy sharing his knowledge of the history, culture, flora and fauna of Sri Lanka. He was also really good fun and so caring about our enjoyment and welfare - he became a real friend and we will keep in touch. (more)We thought the service was excellent. We loved the laid back attitude...On a few evenings we had dinner on the beach with a fire underneath the beautiful starry sky which we thought was quite special. Arriving at the village of Imlil and loading our bags on to a mule was certainly a highlight and set the tone of things to come. When we reached our room and looked out over our balcony to the snow capped mountains above we knew we were in for a fabulous stay. (more)The entire experience was an absolute blast. This really was the best holiday we have ever had, we have struggled in the past to find somewhere that everyone enjoys which is difficult with young active children, but this accommodation and Ithaca really did mean we relaxed and enjoyed time with them whilst they also had a great time. None of us wanted to leave and we will definitely go back.
(more)My husband and I did a 2 day horse trek and we had a ball. Then landing on a glacier in a ski plane was awesome. Can't overlook the wonderful people we met everywhere, they made the trip! My personal favorite place was Arthur's Pass. (more)
Our most memorable experience on the trip was our overnight stay in a village, with a Minority tribe... This was an incredible opportunity to really observe how the people live, and and to appreciate how different their lifestyle is! (more)
We enjoyed every part of our holiday. The food was exceptional and the hotel could not be faulted in any way. We had two fantastic days out with Peter Jones a local bird expert who showed us all the wonderful birds and wildlife in the area. The village is set in an amazing location and has been restored sympathetically, maintaining its sense of age and history. The view from our balcony across to the surrounding hills, was spectacular.
