Amalfi Coast and Bay of Naples holidays
Memorable parts? Most exciting was definitely Walk of the Gods, from Bomerano where we stayed to Positano over 2000' down on the coast. Fantastic views surrounded by wildflowers and herbs, across precipitous slopes and finally descending steps through cacti gardens from Montpertuso. But I also have to say I was surpised by how attractive Naples was, with its very elegant seafront. Tips? The combination of mountains and coast means that you can experience every sort of weather in... (more)Juliet Dunn

Amalfi coast easy walking holiday, Italy
Memorable parts? It is difficult to identify just one part as the whole holiday was wonderful. I think the views from the last two walks were spectacular - Valle delle Ferriere and Sentiero degli Dei. Tips? Be prepared for hundreds of steps but well worth the climb up and down as every view is stunning. Local benefits? Definitely, in the attention to using local restaurants, shops and public transport. Overall rating? It was amazing. June and Aubrey are welcoming,... (more)Hannah Wilson

Umbria cooking holiday, Italy
The location is stunning, Marina and Gianluca make you feel welcome, and they work exceedingly hard to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay. We came to learn cookery, but Marina ensures you know about so much more. I can't wait to try some of the recipes we have been taught. (more)Joanne Wilkins
It was amazing. One of the best holidays I have ever had (& I am old...so have had a few!) I can honestly not praise this trip enough. It was FABULOUS. (more)Hilary Brett

The hotel was really lovely with a warm and attentive atmosphere and very good simple food. Our Guide was very special and without her we would not have seen or understood the beautiful areas in which we walked, the area is outstanding and it was a very nice group. (more)Therese Moore

Yoga holiday in Tuscany, Italy
Memorable parts? My week at Lavacchio was absolutely heavenly. Jamie and Ailsa are wonderful hosts, and carefully consider every detail about their beautiful property for their guests, and at every turn you can see the way they lovingly tend to the place, from the lush lavender bushes fringing the poolside setting, through to the perfect positioning of the hilltop yoga shala. I loved their friendly hospitality, and the welcome made by their very personable cats and dog too! Everywhere was... (more)Annette Vieusseux

Sicily history tour, Italy
Memorable parts? It was an overview of Sicily which we thought was well paced. Very good guide, (Salvo) enthusiastic about his country and very knowledgeable. Tips? Be prepared for a busy schedule, but one that is perfectly manageable. Local benefits? The guide was conservation minded. I am not sure how you could have involved local people more. It is not a developing country where home stays are more common. Is there any 'agritourism' venue in Sicily which could accommodate... (more)Lorraine Hellen

Tuscany family activity holiday
Memorable parts? Simply the location! It was all that you imagine Tuscany to be - a converted farmhouse set in stunning countryside with a view of the surrounding Tuscan countryside that had to be seen to be believed and which afforded the sight of the most wonderful sunsets. That the accommodation was also superb and provided by the most dedicated and hard-working hosts ever made it the most complete location for a holiday in Tuscany. All the local food was pretty stunning too! Tips? 1.... (more)Rowland Cleverley

Walking holiday in Tuscany
Very good!....It was lovely to be looked after by the family at Braccicorti who housed and fed us wonderfully. Sara our guide took us to shops in the local area who sold local produce as well and we could buy some things like home grown sun dried tomatoes and red wine from the farm we were staying on. Tuscany horse riding holiday in Italy
Memorable parts? Definitely, the best aspect of this trip was the horse riding. The horses were healthy and well-behaved. Riding along side sky-high cypress trees, between rows of vineyards, and past ancient ruins and rural villas was quite an experience. The pace was comfortable - with plenty of lively canters! We stayed at the riding center in the owner's restored family home. My sister and I shared a room that overlooked the stables. We fell asleep to the gentle sound of nickers. Tips? This... Sicily walking holiday, Sicilian Volcanoes
Memorable parts? The optional trip on Etna was very interesting, even though we couldn't get to the top - trip notes need to be updated. Stromboli would have been great if it hadn't been cloudy! Tips? Be prepared for a lot of boat travel around the islands. Local benefits? Local people benefitted - restaurants & tour companies. Overall rating? Good! (more)Hazel Geatches

Western Dolomites walking tour in Italy
Memorable parts? Despite having a mobility problem, I managed 3 out of 4 walks. They were amazing and Rudy was invaluable to give me the confidence to carry on even on some quite hard terrain. The hotel turned out to be experts in gluten free cooking and so the other perfect half was the ability to eat enough food to fuel the walking. Also the food was delicious. And the staff were lovely. Tips? If you have coeliac disease go on this holiday, you won’t have to worry about cross contamination... (more)Margaret Pomfret

Italy tour, Rome to Venice
Memorable parts? The whole tour was great, but I especially enjoyed the picnic while watching the sun set over the roof tops of Florence. Tips? Be prepared to do a lot of city walking. Local benefits? Was only used public transport or our feet, which was great. Overall rating? Value for money. Pace was right with a good balance of lone time and group time. (more)Leigh Danziger

Holiday in Umbria
Memorable parts? Wine tasting in Spello. Tips? You will benefit from not following the crowds thru Rome, Venice and in between. Some of the best shops, people and sights were along the narrower, less popular streets. Local benefits? I know it did. We stumbled on a very local benefit cook-out for a church restoration in Venice. We enjoyed dinner there which also included a live band, and felt good that proceeds were going to a good cause. Overall rating? Great. It... (more)John LaMonica

Pisa to Florence cycling holiday, Italy
Memorable parts? The whole trip was memorable... Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. I think the most exciting part of the trip was when we were biking to Pisa and got our first glimpse of the leaning tower. It was so surreal! Tips? The Tuscany route offered is pretty challenging. When we booked this trip was described as light to moderate in difficulty however after finishing the tour and talking to the tour operator we were told it was one of the hardest... Cycling holiday in Umbria, Italy
Memorable parts? Cycling through some beautiful areas of Italy with a great, mixed group. Tips? Get some cycling practice in - most of the riding is on quiet roads, so worth getting used to traffic. Local benefits? Not sure it particularly benefited local people, although meals were often in local restaurants. Overall rating? Absolutely fantastic and memorable. (more)Michelle Bickle

Amalfi Coast small group holiday, Italy
Memorable parts? The day on the farm learning about how the lemon farm operates and how to make limoncello and having a go at making our own pizzas in the family oven. My husband would say the best part was the home cooked food - amazing every night! Our guide Elisabetta was also fantastic and made everyone feel welcome and went over and above in looking after us - especially when my husband got sick. Tips? Breakfast is basic, recommend bringing a few cereal bars if you like a big... (more)Deborah Flint

Puglia and Basilicata walking holiday in Italy
Memorable parts? Each place we walked allowed us to absorb the feeling, the history and the culture of the country. It was great having a leader to look after us as we couldn't speak a word of the local language and knew nothing. We went to one beautiful, wild beach where a pine forest fringed the sand - it went on for miles and no one else was there - and the swimming was glorious! And the gorge was awe-inspiring ..... Tips? Be careful ordering your meal on your nights out - you... (more)Checkie Wood

The setting is magical, with the beautiful farmhouse set in the middle of the family’s land and olive groves. The cookery lessons were great - informal tuition with Anna, a local lady and amazing cook. You cannot beat making ravioli for lunch using local ingredients. (more)Kirsty Dennett
