Memorable parts? We did. Trek over Ton Prival pass, approximately 4,100m high, through the snow, for 9 hours. It was an exhilarating day, with the most amazing views. The view from the top was great, but every corner on the way it just got better and better. That was a definite highlight! Tips? Have as much time as you can to spare. We managed 31 days, which allowed lots of time for visiting cities as well as hiking, which was the primary point of our trip. Don't overlook places... (more)David Harper

Memorable parts? This trip visited Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The most memorable bit was the journey along the border of Tajikistan and Afghanistan where the river runs in a gorge, with the snow-capped peaks of Afghanistan across the river. And how fascinating to travel along a river like that with no bridges across it. However, at the end as we headed north towards Kyrgyzstan the tour leader decided to stay at the last town in Tajikistan (where it was rumored he had friends) rather than... (more)Peter Jackson

Memorable parts? The livestock market at Kashgar. Tips? It was very hot throughout, so take loose, cool clothing. Local benefits? Supported local people by eating in some homes. Overall rating? It was very interesting, with an insight into post Russian life. The scenery in Kyrgyzstan was spectacular. The only downside was the guide in China was poor and we didn't spend enough time in the market. (more)Gillian Urro
