Memorable parts? Zip-Lining in the Cloud Forest but the Galapagos was amazing. Tips? Definitely take a torch, wet weather clothing and a sense of humour. Local benefits? Yes, definitely. Overall rating? Brilliant but the cloud forest was a bit disappointing as we had continual rain and saw very few animals or birds. This also occurred in the Amazon. Fantastic - the wildlife was amazing; watching elephants bathing in the river, snorkelling with turtles, scuba diving with sharks (small ones thankfully!), and the odd orangtan and probocis monkey! The people were extremely friendly and proud of their country. (more)Anna Davies

Memorable parts? Probably Iguacu. Absolutely amazing falls and the hotel was lovely. However all the venues were excellent. Tips? Discuss the exact details of your requirements carefully. For example, we were booked into the most expensive rooms in the hotel for at least 2 of the hotels. If on honeymoon that may be great but an option of slightly cheaper rooms (at the same smart hotel) may reduce cost a little. Local benefits? Hmm… to some extent (eg the estancia was... Memorable parts? All days and trip were memorable, but above all watching elephants crossing the river 30 metres away from us having lunch in Old Mondoro. Tips? 1. I'd check the daily planning of the activities. Given the winter climate, the scheduling for the days was perhaps too relaxing, with a very long pause from 11.00/11.30 to 15.30/16.00 depending on the camp. 2. My days at the homestay, truly memorable. I did not know what to expect from an homestay in a village up in the Nilgiri hills. Orange county resort, Kabina is an eco resort where you visit lake and park scenes and the naturalists are very good at communicating. We saw a lot of animals and observed elephants and deer at close quarters. The resort itself has a great infinity pool, a library and extra walks to see birds and elephants. (more)Celia Gibbs

Most memorable were Seeing the (many, many) elephants by jeep safari in the national park...Climbing up Sigirya rock and admiring the spectacular views, and then swimming in the hotel pool beneath during the stormy monsoon rain....We really enjoyed our snapshot of Sri Lanka and would love to go back sometime. Memorable parts? Orang'utans at Semengohh, and staying with the Iban tribe at their lodge. Tips? Take lots of memory for your camera as there will be lots of things to photo. Local benefits? Yes, our guide at the Iban lodge was from that actual tribe, so the money was going directly to the locals. Overall rating? Memorable parts? Seeing 188 species of bird which were new to me and in the process experiencing the sights and the people of the two islands. Tips? The bird guided tours were very good from Asa Wright and from Blue Waters. In hindsight, as I'm not a sun/beach bather, I would have spent less nights at Blue Waters and gone to another part of the island (e.g. Pigeon Point) to explore. Memorable parts? The whole experience was excellent but the operator did a great job on the ground and their guides, especially the one in Rio, were very good. I guess for me, getting the chance to go to the Maracana for what was the last game to be played at the famous stadium (Flameng v Santos) was a real highlight. Tips?
