Luxury nature holidays. Tours & holidays in 2016 & 2017

These trips are often categorised as luxury, because they take you to see rare creatures in exquisite habitats, and tickets on such trips are like gold dust. Trekking to see gorillas might not be some peopleís idea of luxury, but in nature, this is like being given the royal treatment. Same goes for polar bear watching holidays - nature in all its finery. Luxury nature holidays donít usually involve sleeping rough, however, with cool safari tents or chichi lodges the norm.

Borneo luxury holidays, tailor made
If you love nature and animals do not hesitate to book! Unbelievable! I cannot wait to go back!! (more)Brigitte Gehring
Magical...Fantastic - comment from my husband "I normally am ready to come back to work, but this time i absolutely hated it!" (more)Deborah Flint
Fantastic - the wildlife was amazing; watching elephants bathing in the river, snorkelling with turtles, scuba diving with sharks (small ones thankfully!), and the odd orangtan and probocis monkey! The people were extremely friendly and proud of their country. (more)Anna Davies
From £3150 including UK flights
Kerala luxury holiday
This was definitely a 4-star holiday!...By far the most memorable part for us was the houseboat cruise on the back waters. Two nights on a barge - we loved the leisurely pace as we moved slowly along the rivers, giving plenty of time for watching birds and also watching life as lived alongside the river. (more)Aldyth Rowe
Excellent...The backwaters trip and the stay at Serenity were the most memorable parts. (more)john still
It was a 100% enjoyable experience. We got really far off the beaten track & to the real Southern India (Kerala & Tamil Nadu). Seeing lots of wild fauna & flora, including elephant three times. (more)John Tams-Gray
From £1920 excluding flights
Polar Bear watching holiday, Canada
Memorable parts? Watching the polar bears playing and posing for us. Tips? Have a good camera. Local benefits? Yes. Overall rating? Great experience. (more)Mary-Laure Bollini
From £4850 including UK flights
Trinidad and Tobago nature tours
It is equal to the best holidays we have been on and we want to repeat it. (more)Philip Marlow
Best bits: Seeing the leatherback turtle on the beach, closely followed by arriving on the veranda at ASA Wright, then the boat trip and scarlet ibis. (more)Ian Johnson
They have a philosophy where their priority is for conservation and education, trying to increase local people's knowledge of local flora and fauna, they also educate young people to become guides. (more)Val Wilkie

Southern India tour, temples & nature
The most memorable part was Orange county - feeling like a queen and wonderful safari. (more)Alex Silver

Borneo tailor made holidays, wildlife & beaches
10 out of 10...the most memorable moment was seeing the Pygmy elephants on the banks of the Kinabatangan river playing, tugging up plants and placing them on their head. (more)Gill Bowles
We really enjoyed it and it lived up to expectations. (more)Steve Jameson
The most memorable part of the holiday was 100 pygmy elephants on the bank of the Kinabatangan River...Brilliant. Would do it again, and spend more time in each place. (more)Katie Southgate

Borneo safari, jungle, mountain & beach
Unbelievable, fantastic, amazing etc. EVERY day was perfect. It was our honeymoon and so many little touches and extra effort was made for us. It really was magical. Thank you. (more)Ross Smith
The climb up Mount Kinabalu probably stands out as the best bit. An incredibly tough assent followed by a somewhat painful descent but what a sense of achievement and sat at the summit watching the sunrise having made the climb took away what little breath we had left! (more)Alexandra Glenn
Lots of it was exciting but seeing the Orangutans in the wild has to be the best bit. (more)Phil Pinchen
From £3100 excluding flights
Southern Africa luxury wildlife & beach holiday
Botswana was the best. We want to go back today!! One of the most memorable moments is arriving in our first camp, and barely two hours later, sitting on a Land Rover just meters from a male lion, and nothing between him and us! Just amazing! (more)Dirk Bettels
Do it! Money well spent... (more)Katrin Nyman Metcalf
From £6555 including UK flights
Kenya luxury safari and beach holiday, 10 days
Memorable parts? Getting up close and personal with the animals both on safari, especially in Ndutu where it is possible to off road, but also in the tented accommodation where we were surrounded by frolicking vervet monkeys, bush babies, mongooses and even a herd of elephants on one particularly memorable morning! Tips? Opt for the tented accommodation options - they were our favourites. Local benefits? We were pleased that the company was Kenyan-owned, and that we were... (more)Natalie Sayers
From US $1730 - US $1840 excluding flights
Honeymoon to Sri Lanka
Most memorable were Seeing the (many, many) elephants by jeep safari in the national park...Climbing up Sigirya rock and admiring the spectacular views, and then swimming in the hotel pool beneath during the stormy monsoon rain....We really enjoyed our snapshot of Sri Lanka and would love to go back sometime. (more)Joanna Brown
A great experience with a good insight into the diverse nature and culture of Sri Lanka and its people and religions. It was definitely worth all the planning and the cost and we would probably go again given the opportunity in the future. (more)Alastair Francis
The most memorable part was definitely the look of pure joy on my wife's face when taking a bath with an elephant at the Millenium Foundation... (more)John Dodson
From £1200 excluding flights
Zambia and Malawi tailor made safaris
In all respects it exceeded our expectations - I cannot imagine a better holiday. (more)Chaz Seymour
All days and trip were memorable, but above all watching elephants crossing the river 30 metres away from us having lunch in Old Mondoro was the most. We are definitely satisfied. (more)Vincenzo Bracciale
From £4500 including UK flights
Borneo holiday, Highlights of Borneo
Brilliant! Knowledgeable guides and small groups of like-minded people, who were interested in and cared about the natural environment of the place they were visiting. (more)Katy Wing
Fabulous. There's really nothing more to say. (more)Amjad Parkar
Fantastic! Eye opening! The best part was seeing Orangutans in the wild at Borneo Rainforest Lodge (more)Amy Rubin

Gorilla safari in Uganda
The whole holiday was memorable for all the best reasons but probably the most outstanding were the 2 days spent with the Mountain Gorillas. A memory that will live with me 'til the end of my days! (more)Judith Towell
Unforgettable experience in country very different from my own. I met some very gentle and helpful people who added much to my enjoyment. All travel arrangements went smoothly and as expected. Given the chance, I would love to return to Rwanda. (more)Patrick Taylor
The whole of our week in Rwanda was extraordinary and memorable... and we lost our hearts to this small and extremely beautiful country. We had two days gorilla tracking which were wonderful - not least because of the great organisation and knowledge of the local guides and trackers. (more)Caroline Gant
From £3795 excluding flights
Madagascar holidays, island adventure
Madagascar proved such an outstanding destination that it almost seems unfair to single out particular highlights...Ace. We loved it from first to last. We covered a great deal of ground and saw so much for the first time. (more)Maggie Wood
The 7 hour night trek (two hours in pirogue up river each way) to look at Madagascar wildlife in the rainforest, most of which in pouring rain, with a very good guide was the highlight. (more)Ann Monk
From £3860 excluding flights
Tailor made tiger safari in India
Memorable parts? Seeing tigers, without a doubt! I was very lucky and saw both male and female tigers at Tadoba National Park as well as the famous Maya with her three six month old cubs. At Kanha we also had a fantastic encounter with a male tiger. He wandered up the road ahead of us, glancing back as if to make sure we were all following. Then he sauntered across a meadow with spotted deer alarming and watching his every move. On the first day at Kanha, we also saw a pair of jackals with... (more)Susan Hunter
From £2650 including UK flights
Ecuador and Galapagos holiday
Memorable parts? Zip-Lining in the Cloud Forest but the Galapagos was amazing. Tips? Definitely take a torch, wet weather clothing and a sense of humour. Local benefits? Yes, definitely. Overall rating? Brilliant but the cloud forest was a bit disappointing as we had continual rain and saw very few animals or birds. This also occurred in the Amazon. We were told by the operator that rain was minimal with short bursts. Obviously a joke. (more)Anne Goffin
From £5150 - £5480 excluding flights
Borneo holiday, Sarawak highlights
Memorable parts? Orang'utans at Semengohh, and staying with the Iban tribe at their lodge. Tips? Take lots of memory for your camera as there will be lots of things to photo. Local benefits? Yes, our guide at the Iban lodge was from that actual tribe, so the money was going directly to the locals. Overall rating? The holiday was excellent and had some truly memorable moments, highly recommended. (more)Antony Stanton
