Fantastic - the wildlife was amazing; watching elephants bathing in the river, snorkelling with turtles, scuba diving with sharks (small ones thankfully!), and the odd orangtan and probocis monkey! The people were extremely friendly and proud of their country.
(more)Most memorable? Diving with a dozen turtles off the coast of Sipadan and visiting the local villagers of Mabul. And then of course to see wild Orangutans in their natural environment. (more)The guides were excellent and very flexible, willing to change schedules if possible to suit our needs, the transport always turned up exactly on time, the accommodation was exactly as described and the places visited were all breathtaking in their beauty and animal and plant life. However, diving among turtles, in the beautiful turquoise waters of Lankayan Island, was definitely a particularly exciting and memorable moment...All the local people were delightful and could not do enough to help. One destination was the Gomantong Birdnest Caves. The main cave tests all your senses. Certainly a location for the next Indiana Jones film, not for flip-flop wearing tourists! Most memorable was helping to catch a Crocodile, and a 13 foot long python that had eaten a monkey.... Definitely not your average holiday, which is nice...
