Namibia safari
The most memorable part of the holiday was spotting the leopard. We would have missed it & driven on, but the leaders saw it & we went back. We had to be patient because the leopard hid in a culvert, but eventually came out.  (more)

Namibia travel information

Straddling the Tropic of Capricorn on the south-western coast, Namibia is a vast and beautiful land, relatively unexplored by travellers yet with an excellent infrastructure of good roads and comfortable accommodation. The coastal strip is bordered by the dramatic landscapes of the Namib Desert where the flora and fauna have adapted to withstand searing mid-day heat and to benefit from the cold fogs of the Skeleton Coast.

Wildlife is abundant, ranging from the colonies of fur seal, penguin and flamingo on the coast to the beautiful oryx, desert giraffe and elephant, zebra, springbok and ostrich of the interior. Etosha Pan is home to great herds of game as well as the leopard, lion and cheetah of the Africat Project. Namibia's indigenous peoples are among Africa's most resilient – the proud Herero people of the interior continue their traditional farming, the Damara have their settlements among the mountain ranges, and in the northern desert fringes the nomadic Himba have retained their colourful and traditional way of life as itinerant cattle keepers.
