National Parks holidays in America
Memorable parts? There were so many highlights! Perhaps the most memorable was the sunset in Monument Valley, the light made the rock glow. The tour leader was also excellent - knowledgeable, enthusiastic, but reactive to the views and wishes of the travellers, anticipating our preferences. Tips? Be prepared for extremes of temperature - cool and cloudy in San Francisco, extremely hot and dry in Vegas. Local benefits? Clearly using local accommodation, often not owned by... (more)Ian Roberts

Canada family adventure holiday
Memorable parts? The camping trip was so wonderful, it is very difficult to name only one thing. Having said that, the walk to the Plain of Six Glaciers was truly spectacular! Tips? Be flexible, respect other travellers and the tour guide and make the most of opportunities available. Local benefits? Possibly. Overall rating? A wonderful experience. The parts of Canada we visited were spectacular and our tour guide Jayko is worth his weight in gold. (more)Lynda Wilson

Canadian Rockies adventure holiday
Memorable parts? Wildlife encounters:Black Bears up close. The vista of the Rockies Tips? Travel between some points was extensive. The Inner passage ferry trip took from 0530 hrs to 2345hrs. Travel took up at least 2 days of the trip once on the tour ie it was an 11 day tour not 13 in our opinion. Some of the hotels were poor eg Ucluelet was paticulary bad v. noisy and outside Tofino which was the attraction part of the trip ie couldn't get to Tofino under own steam. You will spend... Family camping holiday in America
Memorable parts? Yosemite and Grand Canyon National Parks, walking amoungst the Hoodoos in Bryce Canyon and sleeping under the stars in the Navajo Tribal Lands. The children had the most wonderful time paddling in rivers, playing in the sand, climbing up rocks at the Kodachrome campsite, riding bikes in Yosemite and following the geology time-line in the Grand Canyon. Tips? Mostly don't bother to pitch the tent - just sleep under the stars! Take as little baggage as possible - you... (more)Helen Perry

Alaska adventure holiday, salmon run
This is the best holiday my partner and I have ever been lucky enough to have. We thoroughly enjoyed it and it exceeded our dreams. If anyone is thinking of seeing Alaska and considering camping, this would be the tour to choose. (more)John Cracknell
Difficult to pick one part as the whole trip was memorable. Alaska is such a scenic destination. Camping brings you closer to nature and the wild camping was in isolated, awe inspiring places. I particularly enjoyed the sea kayaking, around beautiful islands with sea otters everywhere. (more)David Conway
It was an exceptional holiday, on all levels. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip. It's a small local company (which for me was also a decisive argument), they really know their stuff, everything works out perfectly. What you get to see is really unique and unforgettable. You'll bring back wonderful pictures and mostly, great memories and funny stories to tell back home! (more)Bettina Bernhardt

Rob, Marilyn and Troy were wonderful hosts, as were the whole team. The location is stunning, nestled in the mountains with a river running through the centre of it....We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and recommend it to families and couples alike. (more)Susan Brooks
I enjoyed every moment, every story the guides told, every view we climbed to. The Patenaudes are wonderful and knowledgeable hosts, and yet they remain relaxed and easy around their guests (more)Jo Homewood

Small group camping holiday in America
Memorable parts? Each new place visited on the itinerary. The variety was brilliant. Tips? Check the age range of your fellow travellers, if you are not among the first to book. I was with an excellent group ranging from 23 to 63! Local benefits? Yes, certainly. Recycling was handled extremely well and local people were used in the one place where it was possible and mattered, i.e. Monument Valley and the Navajo Indians. Overall rating? Excellent. (more)Audrey Nice

Vancouver to Alaska tour, by ferry & rail
Memorable parts? The optional ferry ride from Juneau to the fjord. Wonderful experience. Also optional ice climbing on Exit Glacier...scary, exciting, mouthed my boundaries like nothing else. Great patient and encouraging guides who were very safety conscious. Tips? Be prepared for early mornings and late nights. The ferry schedule rules everything. You will spend a lot of time travelling so be sure to take on the optional activities so you have a balance. Local benefits? It's... (more)Alison Horch

Canadian wildlife & Vancouver Island holiday
Memorable parts? The group was excellent and we are keeping in touch, great camaraderie. Alex the guide was superb. Knowledgeable but above all friendly. A huge asset to the organization. Having seen Polar Bears and Brown bears before I was excited at the chance of seeing a Black Bear close up. The trip did not disappoint. We saw about ten including several within camera range. We also saw Elk, Orcas and a range of other interesting mammal and bird species. Tips? Be prepared for... (more)Paul Butler

Alaska and Yukon classic camping tour
Memorable parts? We travelled a great distance, saw tons of great scenery and was able to do a variety of activities so I can't really say that one thing stands out however Dawson City (both times) was great. Tips? Bring a bug hat/jacket and some good bug spray. Bring a variety of warm clothes (e.g. mitts, wool hat...) even in the summer months - you never know what the temperature will be like. It really is an active tour and to be ready for this. You do no have to be an athlete... (more)Mary Ellen Ruddell

Canadian Rockies & wilderness walking holiday
Memorable parts? Hiking the Iceline trail in Yoho National Park. Seeing grizzly and black bears by the roadside. Tips? The pace of this holiday is a bit frenetic and there was very little 'down time'. Days started early and every minute was taken up with hiking, cooking for the group (of 16 in our case) and washing up, putting up or taking down tents and travelling between destinations, but, despite the hard work, it was one of the best holidays I've ever had. Truly fabulous group... (more)Christabel Owens

Texas small group holiday, America
Memorable parts? What an amazing trip! My favourite part of the tour was rafting down the Rio Grande river in the warm sunshine and stopping off en route for some wild swimming. Having said that though, every single day of the trip was exhilarating and there was such a wide range of activities and experiences that the nine days went by really quickly in a blur of excitement. Big Bend National Park was stunning and it was really refreshing to be somewhere so remote and wild. Our guide was... (more)Elfie Burgess

Backpacking in the Canadian Rockies
Memorable parts? The most memorable part of our holiday were the views that we experienced. They were breath taking. Sitting on top of Tangle Peak after having just climbed up it was amazing. Robert was a very good guide on this trail and told us a lot about the history of the land with the First Nations. The other trails that we went on were guided by Troy who was the most amazing person. He knew so much and was very encouraging as this was our first hiking holiday. He set a good pace and... Alaska wildlife cruise
Memorable parts? The whole trip was outstanding from start to finish. The boat was great - large enough to give everyone space but small enough to be personal. The crew were exception and had the holiday, Brian the very experience skipper who had time to talk to everyone and was extremely knowledgeable, Steve nothing was too much trouble, Annie the cook who provided first class food made fresh everyday and Danny the naturalist who was knowledgeable and great fun. And finally the wildlife... (more)Sarah Taylor

West Coast tours in America
Memorable parts? There were so many memorable parts of this holiday. I wanted to see San Francisco, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite. This tour provided me with the opportunity and so much more. The other places visited were unknown to me but they all turned out to be fantastic with stunning scenery and landscape. Even Las Vegas was memorable but two nights in the place was quite enough for me. If I had to pick one memory, it would have to be Yosemite which everyone should see. Tips? The... (more)Paul Rimmer
