Tailor made holiday in Peru
Memorable parts? EVERYTHING - it was just great! Tips? To inform themselves very early (6 month before booking) to get the most out of it. We therefore had the best holidays ever and people we met on our tour were just jealouse, because we could do all the cool stuff (we had organised the permits for Huayna Picchu, the Trek to Huchuy Qosqo etc.) Local benefits? Yes I do Overall rating? Great! (more)Barbara Buchegger

Bolivia and Peru tour
Memorable parts? Inca Trail! Making it and seeing Machu Picchu. Tips? Bring clothing for a variety of weather. Be prepared for early mornings, the possibility of altitude sickness... The more in shape you are, the more you will get out of the trip as well! Local benefits? Yes, I think the homestays were great, and the trip encompassed ecotourism, especially in the Amazon. Overall rating? Great. (more)Rachel Carbonell

Quito to La Paz overland tour
Memorable parts? Trekking the Inca trail was fantastic, it exceeded all my expectations. The porters were superhuman and the tour leaders superb. It is the best experience I have had so far. Tips? Listen to the safety tips of your tour leaders regarding valuables. Things did go missing on public transport with some of my travelling buddies. Local benefits? We visited local communities and bought direct from them. Stayed with families to experience their daily life. Overall... (more)Yuetmui Chung

Peru family adventure holiday
Memorable parts? We were hiking for few hours through beautiful Inca trail and at the end we had seen Machu Picchu in clouds and then in a full sun. Tips? Take good rain gear when you travel during wet season. We were there in December and weather was good, but sometimes we got surprises. Local benefits? I think we benefit local people. We visited places stayed in hotels, bought souvenirs. It seems, money we spend stayed there. I hope money collected in tickets will be... (more)Iwona Warszawska

Highlights of Peru holiday
Memorable parts? Arriving to the Sun Gate at 6am after the Inca trail...and seeing the clouds moving away and revealing Machu Picchu! The homestay in the peninsula of Lake Titicaca was also the most amazing experience as was the bus ride from Puno to La Paz... those views of the Lake Titicaca were so beautiful, both on Peruvian and Bolivian side! Also riding the Worlds most dangerous road in Bolivia was super!!! Tips? Remember that Peru and Bolivia are developing countries and hygiene... (more)Kristiina Puusaari-Sheahan

Peru small group holiday, Lima to Cuzco
Memorable parts? Meeting local artisans and craftspeople, seeing the sights of the city of Cusco and especially Machu Picchu! Tips? Learn a few phrases in Spanish for those times when you're on your own exploring the area. If paying locals for photographs (as seems to be extremely prevalent in the areas where tourists flock), be sure to work out the price and pay ahead of time to avoid any potential problems or misunderstandings. Local benefits? Yes- I bought a number of things... (more)Jennifer Janviere

The Inca Trail was by far the highlight of the trip. One of the most amazing experiences of my life. (more)George Efstathopoulos
Visiting the Amazon Jungle was the 'unmissable' part! A unique environment to experience - the river, the heat and humidity, the giant trees and canopy, the sounds of the jungle; seeing animals, birds, a cayman and catching piranhas! (more)Jo Herrold

Peru tailor made holiday, Machu Picchu & Tambopata
Memorable parts? Taking boat trips on the side tributaries of the Amazon! We loved seeing all the animals. Tips? Allow more time at the Ankatera Maccu Picchu Hotel. There is a lot to do there and we didn't allow any time there (except for seeing the ruins). Local benefits? The Amazon portion of our trip benefited local villages and supported conservation of primates. The time in the Sacred Valley definitely benefited local cooperatives and individuals. Overall rating? 9/10 (more)Nadia Al-Alawi

Peru tour, Andes to Amazon
Memorable parts? On the Andes to Amazon I believe it was the Manu Wildlife Center. It was a charming facility with nice staff. Of course, the wildlife that we were fortunate enough to see was fabulous. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. Unfortunately during our time in Peru I picked up a nasty bacteria & viral infection. I was admitted into the hospital for 3 days / 2 nights which was during a portion of our arranged trip. We were not able to drive from Cusco through the cloud... (more)Christine Kinkel

Peru holiday, Inca Trail, Cusco & Lake Titicaca
Inca trail and Machu Picchu was the most memorable part of the holiday (more)Mandy Risso
The Andean explorer train ride from Cusco to Lake Titicaca was an excellent way to see many aspects of Peru from the city suburbs through the slums then farming communities, through the middle of market towns and past the spectacular backdrop of the Andes. (more)Jane Lines
The most lasting memory will probably be our stay on Amantani Island on Lake TitiKaka. We stayed with a family without water and electricity and it was both enjoyable as well as being an eye opener. (more)Chris Simmons

Peru and Inca Trail small group tour
One of the best I have had, a truly wonderful experience...the trip to Machu Picchu stands out just because it is such an iconic place, but the rainforest, the desert, lake Titicaca, Cusco, Colcha Canyon, were all brilliant places to visit. (more)David Greaves
The holiday was superb from start to finish and far exceeded our expectations. The expected highlights of Macchu Picchu etc lived up to expectations with the remaining destinations visited exceeding them (rainforest... colca canyon and sacred valley). (more)Duncan Cairns

Inca Trail & Amazon holidays
The most exciting part of my holiday was walking through the Sun Gate after climbing the last 50 super steep steps of the Inca Trail. We were so happy to have done it. (more)Julie Fahrner-Schibli

Peru holiday
Memorable parts? An option within our trip was to trek the little used Moonstone trail. What a good choice it was - amazing scenery, a real physical challenge (highest point 4850m and highest camp at 4300m)and peace and solitude - we didn't see another group during the 4 day trek. The altitude did make the going hard but our guide (Elias) was a great help and the views and sense of achievement upon reaching the highest point were tremendous. Camp 2 was a stunning spot, on a slightly raised... (more)Steve Braysher

Peru Amazon Rainforest family adventure
Memorable parts? Machu Picchu was absolutely incredible. It lived up to our expectations and exceeded them in every way. Tips? Check the weather before you go. Different regions have very different temperatures and dressy clothes are not needed anywhere - even at very nice restaurants it seems. Order your soles before you go and have enough on hand for tips, purchases, meals, etc. We'd recommend $500 USD. Local benefits? We feel our holiday benefited local people in the... (more)Dee bertino

South America overland expedition, Andino
Memorable parts? Uyuni Salt Flats as it was amazing and of course Machu Pichu... despite climbing and barely seeing it from the Sun Gate, the clouds eventually lifted and we were able to get some gorgeous photos one of which I have attached. I also loved the town of Cuzco and Punta Sal in Peru. Tips? On this trip you would meet loads of travellers which I thought was good as you were able to share experiences and learn about people and their life choices! The most important thing... Hiking the Inca Trail in Peru
As well as the great trekking and superb scenery, the strong point of this trek is that it visits villages in the highlands of Peru and shows something of the way of life of local communities. One of our guides came from a village that we walked through, and we saw people in traditional (but everyday) costume herding llamas and alpacas in the mountains. (more)Tony Cox
Great experience. Lots of exercise! Beautiful views and sites throughout. The guide, camp chef, and porters work really hard to make the trip enjoyable. (more)Mina Connor
The most memorable part was trekking to 4215 meters high along the Inca Trail and watching the sunrise over Machu Picchu while at the Sungate. (more)Glenn Beck

Lake Titicaca & Peru highlights holiday
Memorable parts? Being amongst high Andes mountains and half uncovered Inca ruins without any other tourists around, but with good friendly helpful guide and other staff to look after us. We were able to interact with locals in a way quite different from that occurring in areas over run by tourists. Tips? Take warm clothes- it was freezing at night at altitude. Definitely include an Amazon trip as a good contrast to the mountains. Donít buy hats- there are loads of hats, ponchos... (more)David Rampersad

Andes overland journey, Atacama desert to Machu Picchu
Memorable parts? Visiting Machu Picchu. Tips? Be prepared for the effects of altitude. We didn't get altitude sickness but suffered from tiredness, headaches and shortness of breath, especially when walking up hills. You need to give yourself longer to do things requiring physical effort. Local benefits? Yes, all guides, drivers and hotel staff were locals and we stayed with a local family on Lake Titicaca. There was an emphasis on conservation and reducing environmental... (more)Dianne Margaret Reidy

Lima to La Paz tours, Inca adventure
The human, non-commercial elements were as rewarding as the fixed features like Machu Picchu, Islas Ballestas, Nazca, Titicaca; the chance to explore, interact, share a joke, have fun, bargain, to understand the frustrations and limitations, to take part in local living, if only briefly (more)Weng Yee
Most memorable? The incredible scenery over the Andean mountaintop passes. (more)Sean Mcardell
Macchu Picchu was lost in a cloud but as it cleared it was a magical experience and the pain of the trek eased into a sense of achievement. (more)Tracey Lawrence

Inca Discovery holiday
Memorable parts? Hiking through the Peruvian jungle and feeling like you were discovering the Incan ruins yourself. Tips? "It's cold on the top of the mountain" means snow, even in March (summer). The weather was colder and wetter than I anticipated. Local benefits? We benefited the porters who were carrying our luggage, and were pretty environmentally friendly. I wasn't sure how to take the very aggressive salespeople- I think it's better to sell something than to just... (more)Melissa Mundo

Inca Trail tour
Memorable parts? The satisfaction of reaching Dead Woman's Pass on the second day of the trail. Tips? Definitely spend 3 nights in Cusco before the trail to acclimatise to the altitude. You never know how much it will affect you and it could ruin your trip. It is not worth the risk and it does not matter how fit you are. Drink plenty of coca tea to help too. Local benefits? The guides and porters would have benefited from our holiday, but I get the impression that the porters... (more)Nick Lewis
