Climbing up to the Tiger's Nest on our last full day in Bhutan WAS pretty great - but I think my prize goes to seeing big pink orchids growing on the side of the road - and having the leisure to go photograph them, thanks to our wonderful driver.

Lovely apartment with pool in a spectacular location. Exceeded our expectations in every respect.

Really wonderful! It exceeded my expectations. Steve could not have been more helpful in coordinating and supporting us in this holiday. We loved the places we stayed, enjoyed the people and small towns. The food was excellent. The hikes we great. I felt like we really got to see the country and small communities.

This was an excellent walk of almost 100 mls over 8 days; from Lindisfarne to Hadrian's Wall. The most memorable part was completing it!

The best memories I take away from this holiday are of the gorgeous springtime Sardinian scenery, eating enormous home-cooked meals at the agricoturismos and of the all-round kindness and generosity of everybody we met.

Most memorable? Going up to 5 fingers and seeing the spectacular view after seeing the Ice Caves which were spectacular in a different way... Fantastic.

The most remarkable aspect was that just one hour's drive from crowded Benidorm you can trek beautiful countryside without a tourist in site. Being able to see the ordinary lives of the local farmers, harvesting their fruit etc. and staying in villages that seem to stand still in time, was great.

For us it was five star because we really did find a little nook where the culture was pre-industrial, living concurrently with other lifestyles.

We were blessed with consistently clear, sunny almost 80-degree weather. And the small towns where we stayed overnight were charming and still very rural, but with nice accommodations and pubs. We have never been on a walking holiday of this duration, and it's by far the best form of locomotion.

Excellent. The best self guided walking holiday we have ever had...Dave's walking itinerary and Gill's packed lunches was most memorable.

The walking is very well described and on relatively easy paths/ tracks so that we were walking a grade above that we had expected with no real difficulties. Dave and Gill are very helpful in providing other walks if you want something easier/ more difficult.

Fantastic scenery in the Sierra Altana - even though there was a fair bit of cloud and rain! The people we met and stayed with were, without exception wonderfully helpful and welcoming! Joaquime in Caossa was an absolute star!

I loved the time spent in Machico, its a lovely place to relax after a day walking. However, the best for me was the walking up in the North (I think it was the North) where Madeira is luscious and the scenery is spectacular.

The food was good everywhere and the wine is excellent value - just have the House Red every night, you can't go wrong!

The highlights were the walks through the Rodopi Mountains: wonderful scenery and lots of very interesting flora and fauna and the hospitality we received in the guesthouses.

Most memorable was walking Hadrians Wall with a very knowledgeable guide and great company. It was easy to imagine the Romans marching up and down, defending their empire from the marauding tribes.
