Antarctic cruise and hiking in Chile
Memorable parts? Antarctica was magnificent but if I had to choose but one most memorable moment it would be the sunset and scenes on the night we elected to camp out... Tips? Being prepared for the rapidly changing conditions and being equipped with the correct clothing. Respect where you are and its beauty. Sadly too many noisy co travellers missed out on taking in the beauty and reflecting on the moment.. Local benefits? Tour operators were excellent in maintaining a strict... (more)Edmund Raczkowski

Tailor made holiday in Peru
Memorable parts? EVERYTHING - it was just great! Tips? To inform themselves very early (6 month before booking) to get the most out of it. We therefore had the best holidays ever and people we met on our tour were just jealouse, because we could do all the cool stuff (we had organised the permits for Huayna Picchu, the Trek to Huchuy Qosqo etc.) Local benefits? Yes I do Overall rating? Great! (more)Barbara Buchegger

It was truly the holiday of a lifetime with unique experiences that i will treasure. That was helped by a very well organised crew and an inspirational guide who was in love with his islands. (more)Debbie Cowburn
Fantastic -it was everything we expected. Sometimes reality does not meet expectations but not so this time and we are both fairly well travelled. Everything went like clock work. (more)Jennifer Parks
The view of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate after a gruelling 4-day trek and the tameness of the animals in the Galapagos were the most memorable parts. (more)Glenys France

Amazing, really great. So varied, we felt so lucky to be met at every airport or bus station by friendly experienced and interested guides. We can't wait to go back.....Simply the Best ! (more)Paul Barczak

Rural Argentina tours
Memorable parts? It was all memorable and exciting but if we had to choose we would say the journey across the Andes was the best road trip ever! Other highlights - the vibrancy of Buenos Aires, the spectacular Iguazu Falls, the endless beauty of the Argentinian landscapes... Tips? A trip of this length and complexity is bound to have a hitch or two, e.g. cancelled internal flights, weather problems. Be prepared to have to alter the schedule (and not mind!). It was very reassuring... (more)Jerry Stuart

Colombia wildlife holiday, tailor made
Memorable parts? We have recently returned from a trip to Colombia. We have a very varied itinerary including coast, countryside and culture. Highlight of the trip was the 5 day trek to the Lost City. Our trek was hosted by the Wiwa people. It was a privilege to spend time with these people, learn about the lifestyle and culture. The trek itself was brilliant, the scenery was spectacular, arriving at the Lost City at first light, and having the place to ourselves was very special. Tips? Make... (more)Judith Olsen

Memorable parts? Trekking the Inca trail was fantastic, it exceeded all my expectations. The porters were superhuman and the tour leaders superb. It is the best experience I have had so far. Tips? Memorable parts? Travelling in the Amazon, unfortunately they had the worse floods in 60 years which made getting ashore more difficult but exciting!! Tips? Go for it!! But plan well ahead and take the appropriate clothing etc. Local benefits? When in Rio a trip to the Flavella'a was beneficial to the local people, as I understand that the tour operator paid a percentage, plus the visitors purchased drinks in their local bars. Also when at the Eco Lodge in the Amazon visit... (more)Clive Pagett

Hiking the Inca Trail in Peru
As well as the great trekking and superb scenery, the strong point of this trek is that it visits villages in the highlands of Peru and shows something of the way of life of local communities. One of our guides came from a village that we walked through, and we saw people in traditional (but everyday) costume herding llamas and alpacas in the mountains. (more)Tony Cox
Great experience. Lots of exercise! Beautiful views and sites throughout. The guide, camp chef, and porters work really hard to make the trip enjoyable. (more)Mina Connor

The more in shape you are, the more you will get out of the trip as well! Local benefits? Yes, I think the homestays were great, and the trip encompassed ecotourism, especially in the Amazon. Overall rating? Great. (more)Rachel Carbonell

Bolivia adventure holiday
Memorable parts? Visiting the salt flats - they were beautiful, and totally original. A real experience! Tips? Insist that your tour leader comes with you on the 3 day tour of the Uyuni 4x4 tour - the drivers are completely irresponsible (drinking beer at breakfast, driving dangerously, driving the vehicles when they are not roadworthy), and rude (not listening to the group's concerns regarding the above, and threatening to leave people stranded in the middle of the tour), that it... Highlights of Peru holiday
Memorable parts? Arriving to the Sun Gate at 6am after the Inca trail...and seeing the clouds moving away and revealing Machu Picchu! The homestay in the peninsula of Lake Titicaca was also the most amazing experience as was the bus ride from Puno to La Paz... those views of the Lake Titicaca were so beautiful, both on Peruvian and Bolivian side! Also riding the Worlds most dangerous road in Bolivia was super!!! Tips? Remember that Peru and Bolivia are developing countries and hygiene... (more)Kristiina Puusaari-Sheahan

Memorable parts? Swimming with sea-lions in the Galapagos. Tips? Don't delay! There wasn't anything I could fault. Local benefits? Yes - local guides were used in each city and also for the boat crew. The boat was classified as an eco-catamaran. Overall rating? Excellent. Very sad to have had to leave. (more)Sarah Hext

Peru family adventure holiday
Memorable parts? We were hiking for few hours through beautiful Inca trail and at the end we had seen Machu Picchu in clouds and then in a full sun. Tips? Take good rain gear when you travel during wet season. We were there in December and weather was good, but sometimes we got surprises. Local benefits? I think we benefit local people. We visited places stayed in hotels, bought souvenirs. It seems, money we spend stayed there. I hope money collected in tickets will be... (more)Iwona Warszawska

Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro tour
Memorable parts? There were a number of great parts to the holiday and it is impossible to single out one simply due to the diversity of the experiences we had. The whole holiday was amazing, but if I had to name the top three things I would say (in no particular order!) going to Iguazu Falls (especially the boat ride under the falls!), the boat trip we went on in Paraty and just being in Rio. Tips? If you want to see Buenos Aries or Rio (and I suggest they're worth seeing!!) then... (more)Carol Clutton

Huayhuash circuit trek in Peru
Memorable parts? The whole trek was beautiful - with amazing scenery at every step. Tips? Ensure you have a warm (preferably down) sleeping bag and warm layers for the evenings. Local benefits? Yes, there was much consideration for ensuring that our 'footprints' were not left as a scar on the landscape. Overall rating? One of the best treks I have undertaken with the intimacy of the mountain range always close by. (more)Linda Skelton
From £2699 - £3199 including UK flights
Peru small group holiday, Lima to Cuzco
Memorable parts? Meeting local artisans and craftspeople, seeing the sights of the city of Cusco and especially Machu Picchu! Tips? Learn a few phrases in Spanish for those times when you're on your own exploring the area. If paying locals for photographs (as seems to be extremely prevalent in the areas where tourists flock), be sure to work out the price and pay ahead of time to avoid any potential problems or misunderstandings. Local benefits? Yes- I bought a number of things... (more)Jennifer Janviere
