Tailor made holiday in Peru
Memorable parts? EVERYTHING - it was just great! Tips? To inform themselves very early (6 month before booking) to get the most out of it. We therefore had the best holidays ever and people we met on our tour were just jealouse, because we could do all the cool stuff (we had organised the permits for Huayna Picchu, the Trek to Huchuy Qosqo etc.) Local benefits? Yes I do Overall rating? Great! (more)Barbara Buchegger
From £3350 including UK flights
South America overland tour
Memorable parts? Iguassu Falls the Uyuni salt flats and the Inca Trail. Tips? Donít go with this operator and donít worry about the language barrier. Local benefits? In parts but I think it could have been better in particular on the Brazilian leg (I did the southern cross with this operator) where I donít think there was any effort to interact with the locals. Overall rating? Overall it was an amazing experience I think the trip needs a few tweaks and if Iím honest... (more)Tim Antill

Fantastic -it was everything we expected. Sometimes reality does not meet expectations but not so this time and we are both fairly well travelled. Everything went like clock work. (more)Jennifer Parks
The view of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate after a gruelling 4-day trek and the tameness of the animals in the Galapagos were the most memorable parts. (more)Glenys France

Memorable parts? Inca Trail! Making it and seeing Machu Picchu. Tips? Bring clothing for a variety of weather. Be prepared for early mornings, the possibility of altitude sickness... The more in shape you are, the more you will get out of the trip as well! Local benefits? Yes, I think the homestays were great, and the trip encompassed ecotourism, especially in the Amazon. Overall rating? Great. (more)Rachel Carbonell

Memorable parts? Trekking the Inca trail was fantastic, it exceeded all my expectations. The porters were superhuman and the tour leaders superb. It is the best experience I have had so far. Tips? Listen to the safety tips of your tour leaders regarding valuables. Things did go missing on public transport with some of my travelling buddies. Local benefits? We visited local communities and bought direct from them. Stayed with families to experience their daily life. Overall... (more)Yuetmui Chung

Ecuador ecolodge, Napo Wildlife Center
Most memorable was walking through the Amazon with one of the Sani guides (whose father happened to have established the Sani Lodge), in the rain, through the mud, finding the most incredible birds, reptiles, insects and plants. (more)Julia Saurazas
The tapir emerged from the forest and remained at the clay lick drinking water for an extended period of time. Simply remarkable. (more)Robert Roberto
We loved the Eco-lodge that we stayed at, the Napo Wildlife Center. It was beautiful, well appointed and our guides were absolutely top notch. We learned an incredible amount and got to experience a wonderful place with wonderful people. (more)Elizabeth Essner

The first day arriving in Galapagos and seeing the sea turtles, snorkelling, swimming next to sealions was the most memorable part of this holiday. (more)Miss D.D
The most memorable parts were seeing and swimming with many of the wildlife including penguins, sea lions, dolphins. Driving through ocean surrounded by volcanoes on all sides. (more)Matt Hayden
Visiting one of the most unique places left on earth, and seeing how protective tours and the park authorities are keeping it that way, were most memorable. Amazing and excellent - truly a trip of a lifetime, and one of the few times one can genuinely use the word 'awesome'. (more)Ayesha Kyari

South America tour, coast to coast
For me it was a life long goal to see Machu Picchu, which no picture or video can replace the memories logged in my head of the sheer size and awe of this place. But also whilst travelling through other countries, the beautiful landscapes just amaze you. (more)Michael North
Every day was a wonderful experience during our stay in Brazil and Ecuador but I guess the Galapagos will be the most memorable. (more)Ann Hammersley

Chile tailor made holiday, Atacama Desert
The best thing was to to learn about the Mapuche, an indigenous tribe, who live in Chile. The food was unbelievably good.. (more)Victoria Edwards
The visit to the Atacama Desert area including the high Andes was special for me, and spending time with the indigenous farmer was really interesting. (more)Dave Thalrose
We had a fantastic time. Personally, the most memorable parts of the holiday were staying with the Pewenche family who were fantastic hosts, and stargazing in the Atacama with the Lickan Antay people. Bolivia adventure holiday
Memorable parts? Visiting the salt flats - they were beautiful, and totally original. A real experience! Tips? Insist that your tour leader comes with you on the 3 day tour of the Uyuni 4x4 tour - the drivers are completely irresponsible (drinking beer at breakfast, driving dangerously, driving the vehicles when they are not roadworthy), and rude (not listening to the group's concerns regarding the above, and threatening to leave people stranded in the middle of the tour), that it... Galapagos holidays, Ecuador
Memorable parts? For me, each new encounter with an animal/bird/sea creature I had not seen before - or only in a zoo/at a distance - was exciting. I also enjoyed snorkelling from some beaches and seeing the wealth of fish/creatures below me(the turtles especially) The sulphur mines were also fascinating - if smelly! Tips? Bring your own snorkelling gear and check it fits well. (There is far more snorkelling on this trip than I had realised.)You can hire it but it is difficult to... (more)Karen Morrow

Highlights of Peru holiday
Memorable parts? Arriving to the Sun Gate at 6am after the Inca trail...and seeing the clouds moving away and revealing Machu Picchu! Peru family adventure holiday
Memorable parts? We were hiking for few hours through beautiful Inca trail and at the end we had seen Machu Picchu in clouds and then in a full sun. Tips? Take good rain gear when you travel during wet season. We were there in December and weather was good, but sometimes we got surprises. Local benefits? I think we benefit local people. We visited places stayed in hotels, bought souvenirs. It seems, money we spend stayed there. I hope money collected in tickets will be... (more)Iwona Warszawska

Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro tour
Memorable parts? There were a number of great parts to the holiday and it is impossible to single out one simply due to the diversity of the experiences we had. The whole holiday was amazing, but if I had to name the top three things I would say (in no particular order!) going to Iguazu Falls (especially the boat ride under the falls!), the boat trip we went on in Paraty and just being in Rio. Tips? If you want to see Buenos Aries or Rio (and I suggest they're worth seeing!!) then... (more)Carol Clutton

Thank-you for helping us discover a less commercialised tour and pointing us into the direction that other travellers would not have had the opportunity to experience. You set up a truly unforgettable journey for us. We had the time of our lives! (more)Habibah Ahmed

Brazil wildlife holiday, tailor made
Memorable parts? Travelling in the Amazon, unfortunately they had the worse floods in 60 years which made getting ashore more difficult but exciting!! Tips? Go for it!! But plan well ahead and take the appropriate clothing etc. Local benefits? When in Rio a trip to the Flavella'a was beneficial to the local people, as I understand that the tour operator paid a percentage, plus the visitors purchased drinks in their local bars. Also when at the Eco Lodge in the Amazon visit... (more)Clive Pagett

Overland tour to South America, Andes to the Amazon
Memorable parts? Hiking on a glacier, coming face to face with penguins in Punta Tomba, canyoning down a 40 metre waterfall, meeting all my new friends Tips? We had a great time, and made 21 new friends... but it is quite intense being with other people for such a long time... bring earplugs and ipod and a very very warm sleeping bag. Local benefits? Yes, we always took our rubbish with us, and were careful not to make a mess. Overall rating? Had an amazing time,... (more)Caroline Eccles

Galapagos activity holiday
Memorable parts? The SEA LIONS are great encounters. Especially on San Cristobal Island being such close proximity with them on beaches is almost unheard of anywhere else in the world! That is a real specialty of the trip! Walking the Volcano surfaces on Isabel Island was amazing too! Tips? Organised tours don't seem to include the chance to be able to Scooba Dive with the Sea Lions or other sea life, so best to book that separately by extending your holiday by 1 day or skip the... Huayhuash circuit trek in Peru
Memorable parts? The whole trek was beautiful - with amazing scenery at every step. Tips? Ensure you have a warm (preferably down) sleeping bag and warm layers for the evenings. Local benefits? Yes, there was much consideration for ensuring that our 'footprints' were not left as a scar on the landscape. Overall rating? One of the best treks I have undertaken with the intimacy of the mountain range always close by. (more)Linda Skelton
From £2959 - £3299 including UK flights
Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro tour, 9 days
Memorable parts? Iguazu was definitely one of the most exciting parts, although it was amazing in general. Tips? It would have been nice to know when taking the Grand boat trip at the Iguazu Falls that you're going to be wet all over. Nobody told us and we didn't have any changing clothes or at least swim suits with us. So the rest of the tour we had to proceed in wet clothes which made it a little awkard. Also if you go to Paraty: prepare yourself for mosquitos!!! Local benefits? Yes Overall... (more)Nadja Weidmann

Rural Argentina tours
Memorable parts? It was all memorable and exciting but if we had to choose we would say the journey across the Andes was the best road trip ever! Other highlights - the vibrancy of Buenos Aires, the spectacular Iguazu Falls, the endless beauty of the Argentinian landscapes... Tips? A trip of this length and complexity is bound to have a hitch or two, e.g. cancelled internal flights, weather problems. Be prepared to have to alter the schedule (and not mind!). It was very reassuring... (more)Jerry Stuart
From £795 - £995 excluding flights
Peru small group holiday, Lima to Cuzco
Memorable parts? Meeting local artisans and craftspeople, seeing the sights of the city of Cusco and especially Machu Picchu! Tips? Learn a few phrases in Spanish for those times when you're on your own exploring the area. If paying locals for photographs (as seems to be extremely prevalent in the areas where tourists flock), be sure to work out the price and pay ahead of time to avoid any potential problems or misunderstandings. Local benefits? Yes- I bought a number of things... (more)Jennifer Janviere
