Provence self guided cycling tours, Avignon to Camargue
Very well organised and very enjoyable.... The scenery was beautiful, except in the Camargue, and all the villages were very French and full of atmosphere. Cycling through the Montagnettes and Alpilles was lovely. (more)Trish Price
Successfully navigating our way in and out of beautiful little towns being enthusiastically helped with directions and suggestions for great things to see and do by locals even with our absolute lack of French. (more)Jennifer Wright

Pyrenees guided walking holiday
The local community did benefit as we ate locally produced/sourced food and wine and stopped for breaks in local cafes. The local community were, without exception, welcoming and friendly. (more)Alex Sohal
Most memorable was discovering the local history and wildlife under the care of our very knowledgeable hosts, plus lots of brilliant walks in the beautiful Pyrenean Mountains, plus the excellent food! (more)Caroline Rae
The scenery around Bareges is fantastic, and apart from the visit to the Cirque de Gavarnie, which is a popular tourist destination, we practically had the mountains to ourselves. (more)H M Gill
From €855 - €975 excluding flights
Sainte Agnes walking holiday, France
Memorable parts? The great organisation that appeared effortless but I'm sure reflected much planning and forethought. Every day the walks were 'just right' for the weather, our legs and our mood without us having to think about it. The food was superb, varied and appeared as if by miracle in the right amounts at the perfect time. Tips? Do what preparation you can but don't worry as there are so many walks requiring so many different levels of fitness that you will love it regardless... (more)anne webb

Pyrenees winter walk, France
Memorable parts? The fantastic group of people that I shared my holiday with... like minded, laugh a minute, make your own fun people! Our free time was even spent as a group, in search of Lucheon's best sledging spots, we were not disappointed! Tips? Don't skimp on your outdoor gear... good gaiters are a 'must have' item and if you're lucky suncream and sunglasses! Local benefits? Our last group activity, on the way to the airport, was a stop off at the local recycling point,... (more)Pippa Purser

Activity holidays in the Pyrenees
Enjoyed all the activities, the chalet and food were great and all the guides were very friendly and experienced. Fantastic holiday, would certainly recommend to friends. (more)Jean Elliott
The most memorable part was seeing the fabulous scenery of the Pyrenees, walking in them, seeing the wildlife, and then all the activities we undertook as part of the multi-activity holiday. (more)Sally Preece
A great itinerary with a chance to try out some activities we wouldn’t normally get the chance to try. (more)Alison Cousland

Pyrenees family activity holiday
The activities were all superbly planned, organised and great fun. White water rafting was enjoyed by all of the family, the scenic mountain walk was enhanced by local species being pointed out for us and information on how the various rock formations occurred. (more)Mary Fretwell
I particularly loved our mountain walk, with spectacular views and carpets of Pyrenean irises, and I think one of the highlights for all of us was swimming in a beautiful mountain lake. (more)Trisha Cochrane

France gite accommodation, Mercantour
It is the best holiday we’ve had in France and that's from a perspective of over 40 years holidaying in France...The walking in the beautiful mountains in the Mercantour with snow, sun, isolation and good companions. Why did I reach 67 before finding this most beautiful place? (more)Tony Bell
The Alpes-Maritimes and Mercantour National Park is a fantastic area to visit and we would consider this to be one of our best holidays. (more)Lourdes Roffey
We loved the autumn walking in the Parc du Mercantour, in fact our walk to the Lac de Negre was probably the prettiest walk we have ever done. (more)Mary Dracup
From £406 per accommodation per night (sleeps 4-6)
Ardeche cycling holiday
Memorable parts? For us, it was the ride up the Ardeche Gorge, though there were several highlights. Tips? Bring enough basic supplies to last a couple of days, and be aware of French Bank Holidays which may affect shop/restaurant opening hours. Have a plan for poor weather in the 'shoulder' seasons. Local benefits? In general, yes. For practical reasons, we chose to drive to St Andre - better than flying, but perhaps not as good as the train - but carrying sufficient cycling... (more)Tim Collins

Provence boutique hotel in Arles, France
Our room was a good size, air con (we were there in August) and clean. The pool was just right too. Location is excellent - far better than being in one of the towns. Meals are eaten outside in the evenings and several (including us) suggested they modified the lighting. (more)Trevor Waller
The scenery in Provence is stunning. It was really pleasurable just driving around. My favourite place was probably Pic Saint Loup where we went to visit a couple of vineyards, including Morties which was just stunning and the wine was remarkable!...Very enjoyable stay. It worked well for us. (more)Ania Nowicki
Most memorable? Without a doubt horseriding in the Camargue, from the Paul Ricard Centre at Mejanes, was the highlight of the holiday. We even managed to persuade my 87 year old Father-in-Law to give it a try for the first time in his life! (more)Anthony Leggett

South of France self catering gite, Nimes
The most memorable part was kayaking under the Pont du Gard and visiting Sainte-Marie de la Mer but also eating outside, relaxing with wine and olives and meeting new people. (more)Heather Muchamore
Stunning, unspoilt countryside all around, and surprisingly few tourists for the time of year, (August). A truly eco-relaxed holiday, which we can thoroughly recommend. (more)Joanna Blake
My wife and I really needed a holiday where we could relax absolutely. This holiday provided it because we were left alone, put under no pressure, but always made to feel welcome by our hosts. (more)John Stevenson

We stayed at the house for 4 nights with our teenage boys and we were so happy we did. Corinne and Benoit make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive...It was one of the highlights of our 3 weeks in France! Benoit does great excursions so highly recommend you go on his tours too! (more)Jenny Lincoln
The most memorable part was staying in a very old village and going on 3 days of guided tours with Benoit. Benoit is very familiar with the area and with people living near St Jeannet and the days spent with him were very enjoyable and enlightening. (more)Felicity Bailey

Mercantour family walking holiday, France
The mountains, flora and fauna in an exceptionally beautiful and unspoilt part of the world, within and on the periphery of the Mercantour National Park in the French maritime Alps were most memorable. (more)Nick Lampert
The fantastic alpine flora high in the mountains was the most memorable part. (more)Lesley Eddleston
Superb scenery; walks outstanding capped by 10,000-foot climax (Mont Pelat); well organised; easy to follow route; very amenable hosts at night stops; honest mountain fare (and plenty of it); mostly off the tourist trail; good value for money. (more)Andrew Baxter

France family activity holiday
Memorable parts? The whole tempo of the holiday was right for our family. Highlights would be the canyoning (I didn't mind the one hour walk up the valley, in a wetsuit, in the boiling sun at all - but I think that I was the exception) and the ambiance of the hotel - Bastide d'Iris. My 8 year old daughter loved horse riding (an extra -c activity) and the pool while my 10 year old boy liked the indy park best. My 11 year old liked the climbing and caving (another extra-c activity). My... (more)Odette Duerden

Difficult to pinpoint just one element of the holiday. As a lover of the outdoors, I enjoyed the guided walk and picnic into the local Baou hills but then I also enjoyed the relaxed, fun and informative guided walk of the old town of Nice. (more)Louise Harris

Pyrenees caravan park & campsite
Memorable parts? So many memorable parts, but really having the time and space to stop, relax, and enjoy the experience of staying in our Airstream caravan, with the most magical of hosts. The evenings were amazing, with beautiful sunsets, barbecue burning, and great company. Tips? Ensure you have a car or other means of transport, other than that Perry and Collene cater for everything. Local benefits? We used local shops and produce, other than that, probably very little...
