History, culture & wildlife of India holiday
The most exciting part was not on the original programme. We asked Rajat to give us somewhat more nature and less culture. He arranged for us to spend a day and two nights in a resort on the Kabini Lake, across from the Nagarhole National Park. On a boat safari at dusk, amidst myriad birds and beasts, we saw a male tiger emerging muddily from the river, slinking into the jungle. (more)Robin Fox
Excellent, we enjoyed it all. The two home stays were an amazing part of our trip. Take the plunge and travel on an overnight train with shared accommodation. It's a great experience. (more)Caroline Powell
The most memorable parts were staying at the home of the Kumars, visiting Golden Temple at Amritsar and WildFlower Hall...Outstanding. (more)Andrew Hollas

South India by rail holiday
Memorable parts? Staying in some fabulous homestays. Arriving at the first one, Nelpura, Moncompu in a canoe felt like royalty. Tips? No need to take too many clothes so easy to get things washed. Had thought we would be dressing up for dinner so took clothes to cover this eventuality. Local benefits? It was wonderful to go into people's houses to see craftsmen at work - the potter, weaver, basket. Since returning have told many people about life out there, how people have... (more)Clair Butler

Five stars! We had an incredible adventure for our honeymoon, and hope to go back. Southern India is breathtaking, and we had nothing but good experiences with all of the people and companies we traveled with. (more)Robyn Nadolny
Excellent, I can't say enough good things about the trip and the experience....There were two very memorable parts of the holiday. First the wonderful home stay in the Nilgiri mountains with Rajat and his family. An unforgettable experience that gave me a deeper understanding of the culture of South India. (more)Melinda Rice
I had a wonderful holiday. I have recommended it to many friends already. I think Akriti and explore India do a great job of making a trip across India easy. Great for people who want to go but feel overwhelmed or nervous. (more)Anna Perkins

South India holiday
The holiday was completely wonderful in every way. The whole holiday was memorable beyond expectation but if I have to chose one element that was most memorable it's the organiser Ravi Kumar and his wonderful family at Aakriti who treated me like a loved family member (more)Nelson Jeannette
It was fascinating to experience a little part of this remarkable mixture. The visit to the backwaters - which included 24 hours on our boat - was particularly worthwhile. This is an area of lakes, rivers and small canals quite unlike any other we have visited. (more)John Burley
Most memorable parts were - sharing the Diwali Festival during a homestay at Aakriti. The choice of hotels and the mixture of interests including an overnight journey on a train. (more)Richard Kinch

Nilgiri hills eco homestay accommodation in Tamil Nadu, India
Excellent! Of course being in India for the first time was one of the most exciting parts of the holiday. However the lasting impression of the kindness and hospitality of the Kumar family (more)Lynda Newman
A resounding A+++ in absolutely every respect....The totally exceptional kindness and perfect customer service of the Home Stay Family who organised everything seamlessly, who arranged little extra treats, who were a fund of information and totally dedicated to our every need. We had never experienced anything of this total dedication in all our sixty years. (more)Julia and Stuart Walkley
Staying at this homestay was like staying with our own family - and we could not have wished for anything better!...Absolutely excellent - I can honestly say that this has to be one of the best holidays I have ever been on - and I am already thinking about booking to go back! I don't think I can wait too long - I miss it already! (more)Liz Murphy

Fair trade tours to India
Memorable parts? The visit to the tea plantation. Tips? Try to get out of the coach and wander about. Local benefits? Some benefit to local people. Impact on the environment minimized through use of a coach. Overall rating? A good chance to meet local people. (more)Peter Bentley

South India small group tour
Memorable parts? It was to see at last places that were high on my bucket list. My trip was South India Explored. Tips? Do not expect to feel immersed in India. You will stay at tourist hotels and be driven from one tourist site to the next in a very large tourist bus. You will not stay in Fort Cochin, nor see the architectural gems of Chennai. The houseboats at Alleppey are too large to explore the smaller canals. In fact we were moored for the night on a deserted spit of land on... (more)Diane Norman
