I am reborn! Simply the best holiday I have ever been on
Some great stories to tell the grandchildren. Would recommend to a friend
Arrival at Koh Tao and finding the lovely coral sand beach behind the dive school at Chalok Ban Bay.
Then, exploring the fascinating underwater environment.
Go prepared to learn, there's loads of really interesting marine ecology information to learn as part of the Environment Management Programme. There are interesting and knowledgeable people there, who are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge.
Enjoy the diving, safe in the knowledge that you are diving... (more)Stephen Orwin
Helping at the elephant hospital and working one on one with Nam Fon
To book directly through the sanctuary's website. I could have saved myself $700 if I had done this. And as I now am in debt on my credit card from this trip, I wish I knew to book through the sanctuary.
Yes absolutely. I have also continued my work here in the US by helping to fund raise for the sanctuary.
10 out of 10, even though I got salmonella... (more)Haley Larson
I went to the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Thailand, this was a fantastic project helping animals who had been mostly kept as pets. It’s hard to say what was the most memorable part of this holiday as there was so much variety and different experiences, it’s difficult to decide what was the best part of it.
I had so many fantastic experiences, and the centre itself was in an idyllic area, on the grounds of a Buddhist temple. One highlight was spotting wild elephants in a nearby national park, after dark. (more)Olly Carney
There are so many to choose from, but the most memorable has to be when we visited the mainland to teach in a Thai school. The children were not used to foreigners and were really excited to see us, they had us signing autographs and posing for lots of photos!! The school had organised and practised dances for us which we really appreciated and enjoyed watching!! The snorkelling trip on Koh Tao was also brilliant!!
The only tips I could give would be to prepare... (more)Justine Martin
Loved each second of it. 10/10. (more)Sarah Marsden
My holiday was the best experience of my life, so much so I wasn't ready to leave and got very upset when the time came to leave. I fell in love my elephant Campion and Boonma and his family welcomed me with open arms. Such good hearted people. The experience with them added to my amazing experience and I would recommend anyone try this experience. I would give this experience 10 out of 10 there was nothing I feel could of been better except for me booking longer! (more)Debbie Field
Thoroughly enjoyed - The baby elephant playing-a real privilege to see! (more)Amanda Patrick
I thought that it was one of the best things that I have done. The accommodation, the experience and the people were all great...I loved riding the elephant and there was a lot of opportunity to do that. (more)Carrie des Brulais
The Riverside Cottages at Khao Sok were wonderful... The most memorable part of the trip was the Tsunami volunteer work, particularly meeting the people of Ban Talae Nok, the women's soap collective and playing with the children. (more)Heather Rick
Working with the elephants was most rewarding, especially when taking them for
walks with a bucket of chopped fruit treats to ensure they follow the volunteers
and don't wander off into the forest. They are such lovely animals and we got to
know them individually. The baby elephant called Pin was quite a character and
The wildlife part was very varied with so many wild animals (circa 450) and
different species to look after.
It was also great to meet... (more)Colin Harvey
Seeing new places, meeting new people and getting involved with the locals
Just enjoy every moment of the different culture
It definately benefited local people
It was the most amazing experience ever and I would do it over and over again (more)Annemarie Lotter
Being so close to the elephants and feeding them. The baby was particularly cute and mischievous. (more)Sue Delmaine
Feeding and bathing the elephants in their own natural habitat and seeing them roam freely in the park was the most memorable. Also hearing the else's trumpet noises at 6am as a lovely morning wake up. Great holiday. (more)Nicol Allen-Burt
It was wonderful. Very satisfying to see how much effort is going in to educating people about elephants and rehabilitating ones who have been in neglectful environments. (more)Jodie Eldridge
Experiencing the local village with people who didn't speak any English.
Contributing to a project bigger than ourselves by providing daily turtle activity observations. Nok's restaurant! Stopping by at the resorts in between the hard work. The scenery.
1. Stay in Thailand on the mainland before coming to Koh Phra Tong. The island is not representative of the rest of the mainland (much more expensive,
much more basic accommodations) and will be a culture shock... (more)Svetlana Neveu
The diving on Sail Rock, probably one of the best dive sites in the Gulf of
This is a small village with basic amenities so be prepared to take it easy and
relax as there is a lot of down time where nothing is happening. If you get bored
easily then make sure you have brought things to occupy your time or better still
make an effort to get out and about the island.
Not really to the extent that I would have liked, sure spending... (more)Stan Batchelor
Being with the elephants and their handlers. Having the big bull elephants walk past you, just inches from your face, leaving you to feel completely small and vulnerable as these pre-historic like mammals move by with grace, softness, power and majesty! (more)Georgina Hickman
What a wonderful educational experience and to feel you are putting something back into the preservation of these magnificent creatures. (more)Sharryn Salkilld
A great experience. I haven't travelled alone before but I soon made friends and the staff were great. (more)Paul Gramlick
