Memorable parts? The optional ferry ride from Juneau to the fjord. Wonderful experience. Also optional ice climbing on Exit Glacier...scary, exciting, mouthed my boundaries like nothing else. Great patient and encouraging guides who were very safety conscious. Tips? Be prepared for early mornings and late nights. The ferry schedule rules everything. Memorable parts? The first village stay on the hill tribe trek - we were the first group to stay in this village, and the kids were so excited to see us that I think we became a free babysitting service to the whole village for the entire night! Holiday in Umbria
Memorable parts? Wine tasting in Spello. Tips? You will benefit from not following the crowds thru Rome, Venice and in between. Some of the best shops, people and sights were along the narrower, less popular streets. Local benefits? I know it did. We stumbled on a very local benefit cook-out for a church restoration in Venice. We enjoyed dinner there which also included a live band, and felt good that proceeds were going to a good cause. Overall rating? Great. It... (more)John LaMonica

Turkey adventure holiday
Memorable parts? Cappadocia - the hot air ballooning and the walk through to our new home stay Ortahisar. Tips? Ensure the guide offers competitive prices. I think that the price of the hot air ballooning was potentially double/more than what another group offered but we were "on the spot" with the decision and there was no comparative pricing and the marketing push was that everyone including all the other groups were fully booked. It was a very expensive trip. The cheaper tour... (more)Robyn Chalmers

Memorable parts? The terracotta warriors at Xi'an and the Great Wall. Cherry, our guide although very young, was dedicated and gave us great tips and help when choosing restaurants and outings. Our group integrated very well and everyone was on time for going places. Tips? Travel light, but do take toilet paper!! Local benefits? We certainly used local transport (busses, trains and only once taxis). Overall rating? Most enjoyable. The only thing that didn't work out... (more)Sheila Taylor

South India holiday, small group
Memorable parts? Probably the meenakshi temple visit. I also thought Kerala was beautiful. Tips? I would advise other travelers to research the areas being visited because I didn't think there were enough interesting activities offered. Local benefits? Not sure. Overall rating? 2 stars. Although our tour leader was nice enough, I found her rather disorganized and not particularly communicative regarding the areas we visited (unless we asked direct questions) or the... Cultural tour of Mali
Memorable parts? We named it the “5000 Star Hotel” under the full moon on a windy night as we told stories around a small fire. That was on the very edge of the Bandiagara Cliff in Dogon Country. The rocks and the edge of the cliffs were –right there —and the stories told and laughter were very precious. Our guide Aly and his Dogon friends made a conversation in multiple broken languages fun and enlightening. It truly felt like the mythical Shangra-La. And the rich history of Timbuktu.... All of the holiday was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the train journey from Beijing to Lhasa. The visit to the nunnery was fun. There was nothing on my trip that I didn't enjoy so it's hard to choose 1 thing I enjoyed most. (more)Jules Palmer
Excellent....Go with an open mind, an attitude of adventure. It is a different country. You will not find the same facilities as at home. The food is different. But it's all part of the adventure. (more)Yoginee Patel
It was very memorable and exciting, and a good idea to go on a tour through a country that would be difficult to navigate alone. (more)Laura Tomlinson
