Umbria holidays

Umbria holidays

Umbria has the charms of Tuscany minus the throngs. Wine and olive country drapes hills rising west to the snow-dusted Apennines and descending east to the Adriatic. Medieval towns like Assisi, Spoleto, Macerata and Gubbio jostle with arty Urbino (birthplace of Raphael) and lively Perugia. Brilliant nature getaways await in the Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini and the stunning coastal Parco del Conero.

Umbria cooking holiday, Italy
This is foodie heaven. The cooking classes were fabulous came back with a lot of good ideas. This is holiday is run by a local couple on their own organic smallholding. As far as possible food is sourced from their own vegetable garden or local farmers and the vine from local vineyards. (more)Annette Chapman
The cookery course was fun and we made tasty but not too fiddly food, so what you learn you can put to use when you return home. (more)nicola cosgrove
They were the perfect hosts! They always catered for our every need and went out of their way to make sure that our stay was an enjoyable one. We would not hesitate to book this holiday again! (more)Joanne Anagnostu

This is a very special place. The staff are friendly and helpful in a quiet manner, respecting privacy whilst giving excellent service. Rates are reasonable. The hotel is an authentically and tastefully decorated and furnished renovation of an old country manor house (more)Paul Bish

Holiday in Umbria
Memorable parts? Wine tasting in Spello. Tips? You will benefit from not following the crowds thru Rome, Venice and in between. Some of the best shops, people and sights were along the narrower, less popular streets. Local benefits? I know it did. We stumbled on a very local benefit cook-out for a church restoration in Venice. We enjoyed dinner there which also included a live band, and felt good that proceeds were going to a good cause. Overall rating? Great. It... (more)John LaMonica

Umbria walking holiday, Italy
Memorable parts? Walking through the olive groves from Spello to Assisi was amazing as was the Spello loop that took us up to a tiny village and then back around to Spello. The accommodation was certainly above our expectations with 4 of the 5 being absolutely fantastic and all were in fabulous locations. We were given recommendations for meals and none let us down. Tips? Take up the recommendations for restaurants- they were all great. Don't hurry you have plenty of time to really... (more)Lauren Marshall

Cycling holiday in Umbria, Italy
Memorable parts? Cycling through some beautiful areas of Italy with a great, mixed group. Tips? Get some cycling practice in - most of the riding is on quiet roads, so worth getting used to traffic. Local benefits? Not sure it particularly benefited local people, although meals were often in local restaurants. Overall rating? Absolutely fantastic and memorable. (more)Michelle Bickle

Umbria B&B farmstay accommodation
The stunning location of the farmstay - spectacular views, and we were extremely fortunate to have glorious weather for two of our three days. Also good, close proximity to town (short drive), which turned out to be the best dining option with our two young boys. (more)Fiona Dell
Our holiday in Umbria was absolutely fantastic! The accommodation was beautiful and Francesco and Monia (the owners) took great care refurbishing the old farm house, being sensitive to the architecture, nature and the Umbrian tradition. (more)Tamar Feldberg
The house was beautiful and the surrounding garden (fantastic olive groves) and swimming pool. House staff were all very nice and accommodating. (more)Kate Aydin
