Algonquin Park tours in Canada, canoeing & moose
Memorable parts? Gentle paddling during the day enjoying incredibly vast skies, calm blue water and forests of white pines. And lying back on sun-warmed rocks in the evening watching the Milky Way emerge and listening to the loons calling across the lakes. Learning how to track animals, brew pine needle tea, make rope out of bark, start a fire in the rain and read weather patterns. Tips? The camp sites are simply a natural clearing in the forest near the water, with some rocks for... (more)Jane Lucken

Mongolia adventure holiday, off the beaten track
Memorable parts? Travelling across vast plains in the Gobi, with no roads no buildings no artificial light, and stopping to listen to the silence. The immense blue sky. The generosity and kindness of Mongolians. Thunder and lightening echoing around the mountains while we watched from our tents. The unexpected - the tour leader was flexible and a number of times we took unscheduled opportunities to see wildlife, talk to local people, find out about the election that was going on while we... Nepal extreme activity holiday
Memorable parts? Starting mountain biking at 4000meters with many mountain peaks surrounding. Making new friends and feeling welcome in the trip group. Tips? Be relaxed and open minded to new people and different culture. Local benefits? Many aspects of the trip encouraged us to help local people and leave the environment clean. Overall rating? I had a brilliant time on this holiday and it fulfilled most of what I wanted to get out of the trip. (more)Murray Hendriksen

Patagonia adventure holiday, tailor made
Memorable parts? Eco-camping in Torres del Paine Tips? Beware. If you are not on a direct flight back to the UK - we changed planes at Madrid - you may have to change terminal and the authorities will take any liquid duty free off you. I'm still cross about my vintage Malbec! Local benefits? Yes, definitely. All 3 points. Overall rating? (more)Patricia Stott

Mongolia adventure trekking holiday & Naadam Festival
Memorable parts? The ENTIRE trip was outstanding and amazing... the expertise of the guide, the enthusiasm for the country, the love of the country was thrilling. The NAADAM festival (which was what enticed me to going on this trip was even MORE than I had imagined Tips? Let Jess (the tour operator) guide you as to what you are most interested in seeing/experiencing. She is just so knowledge I had her plan a trip for my grandson and myself that I felt would be a great introduction... (more)Eve Solomon

Wild Taiga winter activity holiday, Finland
Excellent. A holiday that is a cut above. The tranquil snow dusted beauty of the lakescape and surrounding forests. It is so rare these days to go to somewhere so untouched where the silence is palpable. (more)Jane Edmondson
So many wonderful things, I'd struggle to specify just one - eating delicious Finnish tapas whilst the snow fell in Helsinki, being treated to an impromptu Christmas singsong by a choir whilst on the ferry across to Suomenlinna, being in charge of our own Husky drawn sledge (and then meeting Husky puppies!), barbequeing sausages on an open fire whilst sitting on reindeer hides in minus 25 degree temperatures, the exceptionally friendly people, the majesty of the snow covered forests, the tranquility... Bolivia adventure holiday
Memorable parts? Visiting the salt flats - they were beautiful, and totally original. A real experience! Tips? Insist that your tour leader comes with you on the 3 day tour of the Uyuni 4x4 tour - the drivers are completely irresponsible (drinking beer at breakfast, driving dangerously, driving the vehicles when they are not roadworthy), and rude (not listening to the group's concerns regarding the above, and threatening to leave people stranded in the middle of the tour), that it... Mongolia adventure holiday
Memorable parts? Meeting the local Mongolian people. Tips? To prepare physically more for the trip as the trekking was quite challenging. Local benefits? Yes. Overall rating? Excellent. It had a good mix of tourist activities with more non-touristy things. (more)Stephanie McDonald

Absolutely superb from start to finish. The operator was outstanding in making us an itinerary which was perfect for the amount of time we had to spend there, and we loved working with them before, during and after our holiday. We felt that the range of experiences, activities and accommodations enabled us to really experience a bug chunk of Ecuador and its culture in only two weeks. (more)Cara Roberts

Rocky Mountains wildlife holiday in Canada
The two day one night walk in Mount Aspiring national park. It was a very enjoyable walk and the sun, mountains, river and scenery was just stunning!...Honestly the best holiday I have ever been on. There was a good level of 'comfort' as well, not a hardcore trip in that sense. (more)Asif abbas
Lots of excitement - whitewater rafting, canoeing on Clearwater, glacier walking - too many and individual to pinpoint just one!...A fantastic experience with a lovely, caring company, who 'went the extra mile'. (more)Fran Turner
We loved the overnight canoe trip at clear water. The scenery, lakes and canyons are breath taking but....... Seeing a black bear with her cubs eating dandelions and playing up a tree at the side of the highway was unforgettable!! (more)Jennie Brown

Alaska and Yukon classic camping tour
Memorable parts? We travelled a great distance, saw tons of great scenery and was able to do a variety of activities so I can't really say that one thing stands out however Dawson City (both times) was great. Tips? Bring a bug hat/jacket and some good bug spray. Bring a variety of warm clothes (e.g. mitts, wool hat...) even in the summer months - you never know what the temperature will be like. It really is an active tour and to be ready for this. You do no have to be an athlete... (more)Mary Ellen Ruddell

Absolutely excellent, awesome experience, briliant hospitality from the local agent and excellent guiding. Very good accomodation that exceeded our expectations. Very friendly group of travellers that really gelled through the holiday. Will certainly be considering other holidays from this operator for the future. Our 16 year old daughter had a brilliant time too. (more)Stephen Miller
An excellent holiday, a good destination and range of activities. One of the best group holidays I have been on, everyone got on well from the start... I would say that the holiday was sensitive to the environment and local culture and gave a good insight into rural Romania. (more)Sheila Knight
Stunning views, great group, friendly locals. (more)Claire Irving

Backpacking in the Canadian Rockies
Memorable parts? The most memorable part of our holiday were the views that we experienced. They were breath taking. Sitting on top of Tangle Peak after having just climbed up it was amazing. Robert was a very good guide on this trail and told us a lot about the history of the land with the First Nations. The other trails that we went on were guided by Troy who was the most amazing person. He knew so much and was very encouraging as this was our first hiking holiday. He set a good pace and... KwaZulu Natal holiday, South Africa tailormade
Memorable parts? Thanda Game reserve has to be the most memorable although it was hard to pick a specific part of it. It was fantastic and we couldn't have been treated better or had a more pleasant experience ... we will be back. Tips? Book longer at Montusi and at Thanda and at Isandlwana, 2 nights is not long enough. Local benefits? Yes it did as all the places have created jobs for the local villagers and the goods sold in the gift shops are made by the local people. Overall... (more)Naomi Pegden

Gobi Desert expedition
Memorable parts? That's a hard decision to make. The Gobi desert in Mongolia awesome. I took around 4000 pictures and movies that we'll put on our website along with a travel log. We really liked the sand dunes and camels. I got some great pictures of horses, camels, people and the environment. It was awesome staying in Ger camps. Our driver, Ot, was awsome. Tips? Be flexible. Know that your guide and driver are very experienced. It's typical for a car to break down but the driver's... (more)Charlotte Lundemo

Memorable parts? Walking through beautiful rainforests and seeing wildlife without cages. Tips? Remember, if the tour operator tells you you'll need warm clothing - they mean it! Be open to new experiences - it never hurts to try something new and challenging. Local benefits? Yes - emphatically. Our tour operator was emphatic about cleaning up the campsites we left. In fact, we even remediated them with bark and branches to eradicate any indication of our having been there. Overall... (more)Sue Czerniak

National Parks holidays in America
Memorable parts? There were so many highlights! Perhaps the most memorable was the sunset in Monument Valley, the light made the rock glow. The tour leader was also excellent - knowledgeable, enthusiastic, but reactive to the views and wishes of the travellers, anticipating our preferences. Tips? Be prepared for extremes of temperature - cool and cloudy in San Francisco, extremely hot and dry in Vegas. Local benefits? Clearly using local accommodation, often not owned by... (more)Ian Roberts

Chomolhari trekking holiday, Bhutan
Memorable parts? Lots. The friendly people who seemed enjoyed to have their photo's taken. The scenery, the hundreds of prayer flags. As we trekked at high altitude, the many people we met driving horses, cows & yaks. But the best experience was caused by a mistake. On one night of the trek we lost our horses & luggage! Our clean socks & toothbrush went one way & we went another. Our guide rescued the situation by arranging us to stay in a yak-herders hut. The family very kindly took... (more)Alan Reimer
