We always loved country walking, researching new destinations, travelling and meeting people. In 1995, after careers in education, we founded Country Walks, organising and leading day walks in Surrey. Within a year our clients were requesting weekends away and in 1999 we organised our first group walking holiday to Andalucia. For 16 years we have shared our passion for walking and knowledge of the countryside with thousands of people. We are proud that our enthusiasm has inspire so many to enjoy walking and to respect the countryside and that many who walked with us in 1995 still walk with us today.

How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...
We are members of FOC (Friends of Conservation), encouraging our clients to make donations to mitigate against some of the effects of air travel. Also, we are members of the RSPB, National Trust, English Heritage and Friends of the Watts Gallery in Surrey.
In our office and home we recycle as much as possible, in particular paper, cardboard, ink cartridges, to reduce the waste in landfill sites. We recycle printed material by using it for message-taking, etc, being constantly alert to ways in which we can improve our recycling practices.
Where appropriate we employ locally qualified guides in both the UK and Europe. For example on weekend breaks in Suffolk, we have employed a local RSPB expert at Minsmere Reserve to educate our walkers about the habitats necessary for the survival of birds. Similarly, we have employed wildlife specialists to accompany our walkers by boat to Ramsey Island to observe and better understand marine life and seabirds.
Founded by June and Aubrey in 1995, they are both still guides on many of their guided walking holidays. So they donít just get the grass roots ethos, they walk through them on a regular basis, too.
