Aurora Borealis is a small charter company running the sailing ship “S/Y Goxsheim”, We cover the area from Bodø to the North Cape, but we have intensions of moving our voyages even further to the East and South, maybe as far as The White Sea area in Russia. Our season is from March (Lofoten fisheries) till December (Killer whale voyages) with longer voyages in northern Norway in between.

How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...
- Our main dishes will basically be from fish, shellfish and game (reindeer), which means that we will support local fishermen and the saami people of the North. All our other food – naturally – has to be bought in the local stores we will pass on our way.
- We will do our very best to sort our litter, so that what can be recycled will be delivered in a proper place. To avoid using diesel, and thereby prevent polluting, we if possible will use the sails (but if there is no wind, this can be difficult….).
- We will also harvest if we can, from the fish in the sea, rivers or small lakes to the berries on the plains. The harvesting is off course to be done with good conduct, and the main goal with it is to supply ourselves with food.
This little company has been based in northern Norway since 1999. They keep things small and personalised on their reconstructed 1940s wooden cutter, taking guests way beyond the Arctic Circle to experience raw nature, aurora and wildlife.
