How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...

Economic responsibility

We pay fair wages to local guides and porters
We make use of local produce where possible

Environmental responsibility

Our guides advise on how to minimise negative environmental impacts
We remove our waste from mountains and cycle routes
In 1999, SRI funded the reintroduction of 20 black rhino into Tsavo.
Other initiatives include the supply of motorbikes, radios and other equipment for community game guards who will liase with landowners and communities

Social responsibility

We recognise that good community relations are essential for conservation
We provide environmental education curriculum for distribution throughout the region's schools.
We support community game guards who will liase with landowners and communities, whom, together with the wildlife, rely on one another for a prosperous future.
