Alleppey Pooppallys Heritage Homestay
Fifteen minutes from the coastal town of Allepey can transport you into a whole new world tessellated by narrow canals and winding water ways. Located at a gentle bend of the slow flowing river Pampa, on it’s lower waterfront at Nedumudy, is Alleppey Pooppallys Heritage Home, with its rich traditional architecture imbued with timeless charm was raised over a hundred years ago. Nestled amidst the shady trees and the perfect ecological vegetation is the 110 year old house, which is home to Retired Principal Dr. Joseph Paul Pooppally and his dentist son, Dr. Paul Pooppally.
For those with a family this is the place to enjoy the luxury of being truly alone when time acquires a meditative quality determining ones attitude to the day ahead. The structure is enveloped in greenery and is sympathetic to its environs with a generous spread of spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper, clove, cashew nut and coffee) and herbal plants.
In the charming quietude of this home, you may laze away your evening under the leafy canopy of a guava tree which stands sentinel in the amoeba shaped pool. You hear the rustle of the leaves as the cool evening breeze plays with them-Muse enough for a poet…Float, if you so choose, on a bamboo raft in the encircling placid waters of the pool from where you watch the residual brilliance illuminating the evening sky after sunset. It creates a relaxed ambience that helps you to unwind.
