As River Horse Safaris is a small family run business we are able to procure most of our fresh produce through small scale local markets and vendors thus supporting the local inhabitancy in the area. Almost all staff is indigenous to the area thus contributing to ease the unemployment problem in the district.
Always buy local where ever possible. If one visit's the local communities in the area we operate the assistance we have afforded them will become apparent i.e. class rooms, goat pens and other small on-going projects over the past decade.
As our canoeing safaris run through several National parks that flank the Zambezi we adhere to strict rules of the two countries on either side of this wonderful river system.
No litter of rubbish is left behind on any trip anywhere (only leave foot prints)
Report any suspicious sittings to the authority should we see evidence of poaching activities
Remove nothing from any of the parks other than photographs
Collect any rubbish of other companies should it be observed
Assist in regional game counts or game senses
River Horse Safaris has on-going projects with local communities that we support. These projects are visited and supported by the visits we do and the exposure they get to the clients coming on our trip. These people are in remote areas and do not have access to the basics in life so any help we give is thoroughly appreciated and it's is our intention to have them become self-sustainable with projects best suited for the harsh wildlife environment these people find themselves in where elephant and hippo constantly destroy their crops.
