How the minimum criteria of the responsible travel standard was met...
We employ staff that live locally and 66% of the workforce are Portuguese. We work with local companies and stakeholders and recommend local cafes and restaurants. We provide our clients with locally produced organic energy bars, made with local produce such as figs, carob and almond, and also with refillable water flasks. We sponsor and support an annual Charity Bike ride in aid of ACCA, a local children's Charity. We are currently looking at ways of supporting Wheels for Life
We qualify for ‘Turismo de Natureza’ & we hold a membership with ATA Associasao tourismo do Algarve
We make use of digital/electronic information where possible (internet communication, gps guides) and avoid glossy brochures and paper information packs.
We use recycled paper for our printing requirements.
Our utilities for the office are produced from sustainable energy sources.
we use biodegradable cleaning products.
We issue and promote the regulations for the National Parks and Nature Reserves and educate the clients in the resources and wildlife within these areas.
We encourage and promote a no litter policy. We only visit National Parks with small groups
We collaborate and support local non profit organisation such as Almargem ( Via Algarviana) and Association Rota Vincentia
We support and promote the Querenca project? "The Querença Project is an initiative or territorial rescue mission (territorial rescue) territories in critical condition, severely affected by desertification processes and abandonment of its capital, natural, productive, social, and increasingly close to dangerous thresholds irreversibility of development. "
Our holidays include areas such as the Ria Formosa where the salt is harvested, we recommend visits to the cork and carob factories and advise our clients to look out for the labourers that still work daily with hand tools, managing their environment and fashioning their handicrafts
We promote the marketplaces and local cafes, encouraging our clients to try the specialities of the regions.
