This is a more permanent version of the Village of Hope, a catalyst for The Web of Hope movement and the inspiration of one of the founders, the late Dr Colin Hudson (www.thewebofhope.org) By demonstrating working examples of role models abstracted from our database, we will provide living proof of sustainable lifestyle solutions, inspired by the natural ‘intelligence’ of biological systems. Modern permaculture concepts have been combined with traditional farming methods, like the inter-cropping and diversity seen in tropical forest gardens. Appropriate building technologies, like rammed earth and traditional thatch, incorporate solar technology and systems for harvesting rainwater. ‘Localisation’ mechanisms are improving livelihoods for local villagers employed on the project.
