1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The fantastic fish-menu that Paolo cooked for us one evening!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

To make themost of touring this area you need two things 1. a car for visiting all the historic and beautiful towns and villages in the area. 2. Good walking shoes for exploring the hills around Pietralonga.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, definately. Almost all the food and other products used in the hotel were locally sourced. No delivery lorries were ever seen! All staff are local. Recycling is activily encouraged. Bath and shower products are organic and locally sourced. The hotel promotes local tourism and walking holidays. Leaflets and maps about the area can be borrowed but are expected to be returned so other guests van use them. The hotel are agents for a number of local organic food and cosmetic producers and sell their products

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This is a very special place. The staff are friendly and helpful in a quiet manner, respecting privacy whilst giving excellent service. Rates are reasonable. The hotel is an authentically and tastefully decorated and furnished renovation of an old country manor house. Pietralonga is a small but beautiful village with a lively local culture independent from, but welcoming to tourists. There are several good cafes, bars and restaurants in the village. It is a mountain drive in all directions to come to and leave the village, but within 30 - 45 minutes you have access to the motorways for venturing further afield. The hotel is directly on the Francescan pilgrims long distance trekking path and there are many way-marked walking routes in the surrounding hills. Thoroughly recommended!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Driving through wonderful Umbrian landscapes and exploring medieval, hilltop villages. Pietralunga was centrally located within easy distances to some stunning areas and lots of historic sites.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

A GPS (we had a Tom Tom) is a sensible and helpful device in this area of confusing roads and alternative routes.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. We visited local craft and areas of interest and bought their produce. The hotel in which we stayed used local and seasonal produce for all the meals.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

A fabulous introduction to Umbria. Really want to re visit the area in the future.
