Elayne Farmer review 24 Sep 2016
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Snorkelling with Manta Rays. You need to be a very strong swimmer to get in the sea with the Mantas as they move very quickly. You also need to be confident with your snorkelling equipment as you will need to get it on/off very quickly. The marine biologist who co-ordinated the trip is very supportive and gives you lots of advice on how to be in the water.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The Maldives is an expensive destination so you need to factor this into your holiday spending budget. Bottles of water/fizzy drinks are 3 - 4 times dearer than you would expect to pay in the UK. We found it worked well to be on the half board tariff and to buy a snack at lunchtime, but there was a limited choice of light meals. Check the small print of any deal as often only the buffet choice is included (even in the AI packages) and al a carte options are a costly extra. Everything attracts additional 22% local taxes so this pushes up you costs. There is not a lot to do in the evening so download some movies/tv shows to you Kindle/ipad.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The resorts employ local people so it helps the economy, but they also employ a lot of foreign workers which means money often goes outside the country.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The holiday was good, but for what it cost it should have been stupendous

Many thanks for providing your feedback and advice to future guests.
We are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. I know that you were excited to encounter manta rays so it comes as no surprise to learn it was one of the most
memorable aspects of your holiday!
As you note Maldives resorts can be an expensive option which is why we also provide local island holiday options which ensures your money goes directly back to the local communities with whom we work.
We would love to welcome you back to the Maldives in the future and perhaps next time you would consider a combined resort and local island stay.
Thank you again for your comments, which we will also share with the resort.
