Book an extra day beforehand to see Delhi. One day is not long enough.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Undoubtedly visiting the Taj Mahal, although the journey on the overnight train was a close, but completely contrasting, second - although i'm not sure the whole group would agree!!!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take lots of clothes for colder weather (i didn't do my homework properly and it was far colder than I expected). Also, to consider carefully how busy it was: I enjoyed this but my travelling companion got a lot more tired than she expected.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I would like to think the holiday benefited local people, it certainly did in as much as using local transport / local drivers and eating in local establishments or when sampling street food. I'm not sure it's credentials in terms of reducing environmental impact were that high, nor in terms of supporting conservation. Despite our tour leader appearing unaware of it's existence, we did independently organise a slum tour which contributed significantly to the above as profits go directly to the related NGO.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was a challenging, enjoyable and interesting experience. There were some disappointments as several activities in the itinerary didn't materialise, but overall these did not detract from the holiday experience.

review 6 Nov 2013

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Tasting street food of India, feeling reassured that our leader had assessed the risks of hygiene at that particular outlet. The food was always delicious and unforgettable

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Go with the flow! In India, you have to be flexible, changes to itineraries are unavoidable, just see it as an opportunity to see something spontaneous. Pack a small torch, few streetlights and uneven pavements make returning to hotel after dark an adventure!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, the recommended outlets seemed to be directly benefiting local crafts people. It felt good to support them when not in a pressured environment

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent! I would do it again in a heartbeat. The group was friendly and all stuck together.
