Amazing holiday. It felt like such a privilege to be able to get to know the local community in this way. The people of Uganda are so warm and welcoming - and this family and community are a great example of this.

Every morning we opened the curtains to the most beautiful scene of the mountains and alpine meadows. The Romanian Carpathians are untouched and covered with wildlife and wild flowers. Our favorite thing was the visit to the Shepherd's camp. (more) |

The island is a great concept, no where else in Fiji can you learn about the culture and the language from the Fijians themselves, partake in the ritual of Kava (the Fijian National Drink), learn the ancient craft of spear-fishing, meet the chief of the island and learn to do many other activities. The Riverside Cottages at Khao Sok were wonderful... The most memorable part of the trip was the Tsunami volunteer work, particularly meeting the people of Ban Talae Nok, the women's soap collective and playing with the children. (more) |

The host families helped us learn some of their language, customs, farming practices, crafts, cooking, and generally how to enjoy life without electricity! We didn't see another white person the whole week - wonderful!! I cannot recommend it highly enough. (more) |
